Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

SanDisk not recognized by computer

Hi there,

I used to be able to use my SanDisk flashstick at work to read files that I brought from home (just .doc, .xls, and .pdf). Now, the computer is not recognizing anything that I plug into the USB ports, whether an iPod charger or the flashstick.

The flashstick is a SanDisk micro (SDCZ6-4096RB). I tried to install a driver though I have Windows XP so the driver isn't needed.

Is there something wrong with the USB ports and is there something that I can do to re-adjust them?

I wasn't able to access the Device Manager since I don't have administrative rights to the computer, but I've contacted my Help Desk at the office to see if they can do it for me. I have no doubt that the advice you gave is the solution, but unfortunately, I can't access it at this time.

    Thanks so much!!

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to START > Right-click My Computer > PROPERTIES
  2. On the tabs, click Hardware > DEVICE MANAGER
  3. Press the + sign next to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  4. Doubble-click the first one
  5. When the new window comes up, click Drvers from the tabs, and click "uninstall"
  6. Repeat step 5 for all devices
  7. Restart your computer.
After your computer restarts, plug in your flash drive and it should work.

If that doesn't work, then the USB ports on your computer are dead. You can try to get new USB hardware at a computer store to plug into your computer (THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS A USB HUB!)

Clean the flash drive in some boiling hot water, and hot blow dry it good.

What file format do i save a word doc to my sandisk 2 gb

The USB flash drive is capable of storing any type of file. Save it as a word document (.doc) or anything else. However, if you use the drive on a computer that does not have WORD on it, you may not be able to open it. There are other programs that can read WORD documents: Libre Office, Corel WordPerfect and many other documents viewers.

How to copy a doc. file to the flash drive.

Ok. here is what you need to do.

1. Hook your flash drive to any of the usb slot in your computer.
see image below bcfce55.jpg

Wait for the system to read it. A green arrow icon will appear in the taskbar to show that a new removable hardware device is connected. After it successfully recognized, It will display a message " The device is installed and ready to use" at the lower right portion of the windows taskbar.

Click on My Computer a new drive will appear. It is usually designated as removable drive. On this drive you will paste the copied doc files. It is the assigned drive for your flash drive.

So go on., copy all the files you need to carry and paste it in the flash drive.

Be reminded also that before you unhook the flash drive from the computer, right click first on the green arrow icon on the taskbar and stop the operation. Click stop on the flash drive. This will turn off the remaining applications / readings in the flash drive and will prevent it from crashing and file corrupting.

I hope you understand.
Please give me some good ratings as this will help me too.
Thanks.

I cannot move a Microsoft Word file to a SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer, getting the message that "Directory or File cannot be created"...Why? What's the solution?

There is a problem with these where putting files directly on the root folder of the drive only allows X amount of files. Open the Cruzer from My Computer and create a new folder. Try dropping the Word file into that new folder and all should be well.

Hope this helps. Look forward to hearing back from you soon!

Works on my mac-not recognised by other computers

the problem lies in the file system

Some choices:

Format for Mac and use PC software that can open Mac format disks like TransMac http://www.asy.com .

Format disk as FAT32, both machines should be able to use it. A problem with FAT32 is that the largest file it can hold is 4GB.

Format with NTFS and use Paragons NTFS for Mac OS X http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntf... .

hard drives are hard drives.

You are only going to run into problems if you format it and use a file system type not supported by one of the systems.
