Model F7426-900---not F7425-900 (made 11/03)
Sometimes it will dispense detergent-sometimes it won't.
Dispenses clear water ok.
Think I have solenoid problem.
Where are solenoids located and how do you get to them.
Any suggestions as to any other areas that could be causing the problem?????

Hi there! Be sure you are only using the recommended detergent for your cleaner. Sometimes it is necessary to prime the trigger to get the solution to flow. Give these quick steps a try.
1. Recline the handle
2. Pump the trigger 30 times
3. Power the unit on.
4. Squeeze trigger for 60 seconds
If the cleaner still wont dispense you may have an issue with your pump assembly. We recommend taking your unit in to an authorized service center for repair. I have included a link where you may go to locate a service center near you. Service Center Locator

No what it means are the tubes that carry the solutions are plugged and most likely full of old detergent that hardened. You will need to clean all the plastic tubing out for the dispensers. When your done using the machine always run clean water only through the dispenser and tube to flush out the detergents.
Check the spring loaded valve at the bottom of the detergent bottle.
Push it up with your finger or a pencil or some such thing and see
if fluid comes out. If it does, then the problem is the valve or tubing I
Under the detergent side, there is a metering plate,(located on the machine) which can be removed. ensure that this is installed. have you verified whether the machine will dispense detergent only without any water in the water tank?

It could be the trigger assm could be broken and is not releasing the solution and or water, or the valve under the water solution tank is not releasing the solution. Please check with your owners manual in the trouble shooting manual or if you do not have a manual, call the Hoover factory cust serv and give them the brand name and model # so that they can send you a new owner’s manual. Your local vacuum cleaner dealer should be able to do a diagnosis of the problem and can give you and est of the repair. Or if the vacuum is less than one year it should be covered under the Hoover factory warranty. With the tank off, can you see if the rod in the handle is hitting the spot where the tank sits on, if not then there is a problem in the handle. If it is, then the reservior asm may be bad, it is what the tank sits on.
