Reset the BIOS password on a Acer Aspire 6930

Completely wrong! I am trying to reset the superviser password which enables you to reset boot sequence etc at the moment most everything is greyed out and one most have the supervisers password; not! the user password; hard drive password or windows log in pass word ! Pressing f8 several times does not work and the cmos battery is nowhere to be seen ;not under wireless card or memory chips so how about someone who knows what is what coming up with real info! Using third party programes to reset windows password ineffectual as the computer must boot up from a usb stick with appropriate software to interrogate the password but I cannot alter boot sequence as of now! we are now talking about the candy windows password not the bios passwords that originally gave me this problem as I sent the computer back in time to an earlier config but the password went into the ether! ok. I tried all the old passwords all to no avail!. All this to see if the wireless card was working as it seem to be away without leave! or my modem /router is kaput in the wireless department! There is a hint of an advanced Bios setup but can't access it!

Hi,
When system boots press the key to get into BIOS. Usually it is 'Del' Key. Once you get into BIOS, if not asking a password, get into admin menu and set the password option disabled.
If asking for a password while you get in to BIOS and you dont know the password, the only option is to reset the BIOS.
To reset BIOS u've to remove the back cover and remove and re-insert the CMOS battery while the laptop is powered off. After that, power on the laptop and set the bios to normal setting, especially the time. This wont harm any of your data.
Please come back and vote for me if this finds helpful for you. Thnx

Here's the toshiba line on that, in case you haven't already seen it. I don't suppose you ever made a password reset disk, did you? Also helpful may be this page or these links.
You may have to contact Toshiba to find someone local who's authorised to get you there...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Locked out of bios on my Toshiba u205.

Synopsis: When a Supervisor password is set, access to the BIOS is restricted by default unless the Supervisor Password is entered at the "Password=" prompt when starting the notebook. However, should the User/Power-on Password NOT be set then no such prompt will appear, and access to the BIOS will not be possible.

Solution: To access the BIOS set-up routine in the above scenario it is necessary to start the notebook from cold (not from standby or hibernation) whilst holding down the "INS" key. This will force the "Password=" prompt to appear. After entering the Supervisor Password a small menu will be displayed, and one option on this menu is to access the BIOS set-up ro

Password for entring my bios

BIOS Passwords Basic settings on your computer such as how many and what kinds of disk drives you have which one are enabled and which are disabled and which ones are used for booting are held in a CMOS chip on the mother board. A tiny battery keeps this chip always running so that whenever you turn your computer off, it still remembers its instructions. A common method of entering the BIOS is pressing the Del key at Bootup other common methods are Ctrl +Alt +Esc and Ctrl + Esc. Most computers have a BIOS which can be configured to ask for a password as soon as the computer is switched on. If the Ask Password option is enabled then as soon as the PC is switched on a Dialog box welcomes you and asks you for the password. You cannot override this and there is no way of disabling this because to enter the BIOS you need to know the BIOS password. So what do you do? Disable it. Now to Disable the BIOS password you need to enter the BIOS. But as soon as you enter the BIOS the BIOS asks for a password. Now the most common method of overriding this password prompt is by trying out the default BIOS passwords. Some common passwords are: Lkwpeter j262 AWARD_SW AWARD_PW Biostar Many BIOS also have their default password that can be tried. "j262" opens most versions of Award BIOS it works about 80% of the time. "AWARD_SW" and "AWARD_PW" work on some computers as well, but much less often. In some BIOS shift+s y x z also works. The best way to find out the default passwords of various BIOS is to search at http://astalavista.box.sk which is the best search engine for security related matter Well if the default passwords did not work them get ready for some serious Hacking stuff. Now as the default BIOS password did not work we will try to reset the BIOS to its default settings so that it asks for no password at all. So to do following: First you have to open the computer and then look for a round lithium battery, it probably looks like a silver coin. So remove the battery and after 30 seconds or so put it back. Some computers may also require you to reset the jumper, so look for a 3-pin jumper and reset it. For example, on most machines you will find a three-pin device with pins one and two jumpered. If you move the jumper to pins two and three and leave it there for over five seconds, it will reset the CMOS. When you boot the machine some BIOS may give an error saying that the BIOS was reset or tampered with, but that is not such a big problem
