HOW TO CONNECT HP 3055 TO ROUTER/WIRELESS NETWORK. WINDOWS XP/WINDOWS VISTA.

I have just finished successfully connecting my HP 3055 to my router and using it over wireless on 2 computers, one with windows XP SP2 and one with VISTA.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTING HP 3055 ON XP:

FIRST CONNECT THE PRINTER TO THE ROUTER WITH A ETHERNET CABLE. FIND OUT THE IP ADDRESS OF YOUR PRINTER. By me it was 192.168.0.66

Go to CONTROL PANEL and open "PRINTERS AND FAXES". on the top left choose "ADD A PRINTER" click "NEXT".

In the "LOCAL OR NETWORK PRINTER" window, choose "LOCAL PRINTER ATTACHED TO THIS COMPUTER" and uncheck "AUTOMATICALLY DETECT"... click "NEXT".

In the "SELECT A PRINTER PORT" window click the radio button "CREATE A NEW PORT", click the down arrow and choose "STANDARD TCP/IP PORT".

In the window that pops up click "NEXT"

In the ADD PORT window, where it says "PRINTER NAME OR IP ADDRESS, type in your printers IP address, by me it was 192.168.0.66. The bottom line will fill in automatically. Click "NEXT".

In the "INSTALL PRINTER SOFTWARE" window, if you have the disk just choose "HAVE DISK" and install from there. If not, in the left column choose "HP" and in the right column choose "HP LASERJET 3050" (by me it showed up in the list, you can download the driver from here http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=1140780&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=1161389&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228

click "NEXT"

In the "NAME YOUR PRINTER" window, choose a name and also choose if you want to set it as the default printer (recommended) Click "NEXT"

In the next window choose whether or not you want to share the printer, and if you do assign a printer name. Click NEXT. The next window is optional if you want to make a name, you can just click NEXT and your done! Print a test page to make sure that all is fine.

If you want connect the printer to the network and use as shared printer.you want to know what is "static IP address" versus "dynamic IP address', "subnet mask" and "default gateway". I started installation just by connecting printer to the network and running installation CD

Method :

setup your static IP from printer keypad, such as 192.268.1.85, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 127.0.0.1. This is not universally OK, must be in sync with your router. When installation software wants to locate the printer, DON'T, repeat DON'T select option "search by scanning printers". Select option "defined printer address" and on teh next page select IP and enter IP defined manually on the printer keypad. That the Way Check it

SOURCE: HP LaserJet 3055 scan over network.

Hi,
If you have installed the printer using Add printer and faxes then you have just install the printer drivers which will allow you to print over the network.
However if you want to scan over the network than you have to install the complete software of the printer .
If you do not have Software CD than you can download and install the software fom Link below.

SOURCE: PCL XL error in hp laserjet 3055

Hi,
information about the cause:
PCL XL error pages that print from an HP LaserJet 1200, 1300, 2200, 2300, 3200 or 3300 series product when a PCL 6 printer driver is in use typically indicate a communication issue. Sometimes this issue is caused by an incompatibility between the Enhanced XL language and the software application.

You can find the solution for this error here:

LOTS TO CHECK

Check if the LAN cable has been correctly connected, if the SMTP server is ready for communication, if the network settings
such as sub-net mask setting are correct, or if the E-mail address of the destination is correct.

LAN cable has not been connected, or failed to communicate with
the SMTP server. You tried to transmit the document to an incorrect destination address.

A LAN cable is not connected. Check that the LAN cable is connected correctly. The network of the network multifunction
machine and the PC with the IP address of the destination mismatch.Confirm whether the network settings of the PC and the network settings of the network multi-function machine pose a
network-type problem. The network settings in the PC have
not been set correctly.Check the TCP/IP settings of the PC.
The network board of the PC with the IP address of the destination has failed. Replace the network board or the PC. Power is not being supplied to the HUB. Supply power to the HUB. A cross-type network cable is not being used for Peer-to-Peer connection.
Use a cross-type cable. The network cable is disconnected. Replace the network cable. Network load in the destination PC is
too high. Check whether a mail with large size data is received in the destination PC, or a large file is downloaded from the Web.
There is too much transmission data. If the scan resolution is set high, scan fewer pages. The access is limited by the firewall
(Windows Firewall) of the network connection in the PC.
Consult with the network administrator, and change the firewall (Windows Firewall) settings of the network connection.

I can not get my kodak hero 5.1 printer to work on my windows xp 64 bit

Turning sharing on or off

The first time you connect to a network, you'll be asked if you want to turn on sharing between PCs and connect to network devices such as printers. Your answer automatically sets the appropriate firewall and security settings for the type of network that you connected to. You can turn sharing on or off at any time.

To turn sharing on or off

  1. hh_ppeic.pngTap or click to view available networks.

  2. Press and hold or right-click the network you're connected to, then tap or click Turn sharing on or off.
435600ef-5a98-4568-bfa2-28d51981b1e3_13.jpgMenu used to turn sharing on or off

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Choose Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices for home or small office networks, or when you know and trust the people and devices on the network. This setting allows your PC to connect to devices on the network, such as printers.

    • Choose No, don't turn on sharing or connect to devices for networks in public places (such as coffee shops or airports), or when you don't know or trust the people and devices on the network.
      alertset_warning.png

      Notes

      • Turning sharing on prepares your PC for sharing files and devices on a network. For more information about sharing with other people on your network, see Sharing files and folders on a network or a shared PC.

      • The network sharing setting is only available for WiFi, Ethernet, VPN (non-domain) and dial-up (non-domain) connections. It's unavailable for domain networks. On VPN or dial-up connections, you must connect to the network first, then press and hold or right-click the network name to change the network sharing setting.

      • Turning on sharing changes your firewall settings to allow some communication, which can be a security risk. If you know you won't need to share files or printers, the safest choice is No, don't share or connect to devices.

      • Choosing No, don't turn on sharing or connect to devices blocks the following applications and services from working: PlayTo, file sharing, network discovery and automatic setup of network devices.

About network discovery

Network discovery is a setting that affects whether your computer can see (find) other computers and devices on the network and whether other computers on the network can see your computer. It's one of several settings that are turned on when you turn on network sharing. You can turn network discovery on or off independently of network sharing, but we discourage this. Here's why. If you're connected to a network in a public location and you decide to turn on network discovery but leave network sharing turned off, the network discovery setting will be on for every public network you connect to from then on. This wouldn't be safe. That's why we recommend using the network sharing setting instead.

However, if for some reason you need to turn network discovery on or off independently of the network sharing setting, here's how to do it:

  1. hh_ppeic.pngTap or click to open Advanced sharing settings.

  2. Tap or click the chevron 7d2e0f87-bcfb-44a3-8422-5c9353bcde11_89.jpg to expand your current network profile.
  3. Tap or click Turn on network discovery or Turn off network discovery, then click Save changes. 1f9463c2-c968-47bf-9b4d-939c5d1af477_70.jpg You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

Why my computer does not recognize lexmark E260dn printer?

The computer can not detect the printer for a number of reasons and this can be resolve by check the connection between the printer and computer. Please make sure you are using the recommended USB or Ethernet cable (network connected). Check the cable connections to the printer to make sure they are secure. For more information, see the setup documentation that came with the printer.

If connected to a network, make sure that the printer is connected to the network. Print a network setup page and check that the status shows Connected. If the status is Not Connected, check the network cables, and then try printing the network setup page again. Contact your system support person to make sure the network is functioning correctly.

HP Photosmart c6380 wireless printer works fine, but windows xp does not recognize the scanner

  • First, we need to create the Ad hoc network that will provide wireless connection between your computer and printer. On the right hand portion of the Taskbar, you can right-click the wireless icon and choose "View Available Wireless Networks". Or you can double click the wireless icon, then click "View Wireless Networks". It is also accessible from the Control Panel. Either way, the same window as shown in step 2 will pop-up.
  • 2
  • setup-xp-via-ad-hoc-1.2-120x120.jpg View Wireless Networks The Wireless Network Connection window shows you all the wireless networks in range including the network where you are connected. If you have many neighbors with wireless networks, it will all show up. Click "Change advanced settings" and it will bring up the Wireless Network Connection Properties window. Choose the "Wireless Networks" tab and at the bottom click "Advanced" button.
  • 3 setup-xp-via-ad-hoc-1.3-120x120.jpg Wireless Networks Properties From the Advanced option window, choose "ad hoc" networks only. This is just to simplify the process. You should also bring this back to original setting after you are done connecting via Ad hoc. You may choose to skip this step if you wish and you should still be able to make the connection without a problem.
  • 4 setup-xp-via-ad-hoc-1.4-120x120.jpg Create the ad hoc network Click the "Add" button and type in a name for your Ad hoc network. Make it more intuitive so you can easily recognize your own network just in case there are other Ad hoc in range. Check off the automatic key and enter a 5 or 10 digit network key. This is the same key that you will input at the printer later. Click OK and then OK again. You are now connected to the Ad hoc network. You are half way through.
  • 5 setup-xp-via-ad-hoc-1.5-120x120.jpg ad hoc network Make sure the printer is ON as well as the wireless radio button. On the printer control panel, press the setup button to access the menu. Go to Wireless Menu and press OK. Press the arrow to go to Setup Wizard and press OK so the printer will automatically search for wireless networks in range. From the list of networks, find the SSID or Ad hoc name that you created and press OK and type in the network key using the alphanumeric keypad on the printer. The printer should confirm the connection in less than a minute. That's it! Try to print a test page to make sure everything is working properly.

We have two copier canon iR3225 and iR2022n. We got problem in scan in server2003 software while colour scan gear is installed. Server2003 is not detect the scanner.

Is the copier connected in the network or thru USB? Because Colour Network ScanGear is used when copiers are connected to the network.
If it is connected to the network, run Network ScanGear Tool and search for connected scanner in the network. Or you can use the IP Address of the copier to find it on the network.
Use 3rd party software or any other software that have scanning/import function (e.g. Photoshop).

How do I set it up for wireless

Install a printer on a home network The most common way to install a printer on a home network is to install it as a stand-alone device on the network, and then add a connection to the printer on each computer that is on the network.
If you're not sure what type of network printer to install, decide if you want to:
    • Use a wireless printer. These printers use a built-in wireless card and plug into a power source, not your network or computer. After you turn on the printer, you need to refer to the information that came with the printer to set up a wireless connection to each computer on a home network. Security options for wireless printing are determined by each printer manufacturer.
    • Connect a printer directly to the network. To do this, you need to plug in the printer to your network hub or router. How to install these printers depends on whether the printer and your network device use an Ethernet, universal serial bus (USB), or another type of connection. You also need to refer to any installation information or tools provided by the printer manufacturer.
    • Connect more than one printer directly to the network. To do this, your hub or router must be able to support more than one printer connection.
Hide all expcol_imgs.png To install a network printer
    • To find out how to install a network printer, check the information that came with the printer.
expcol_imgs.png To connect to a network printer After you have installed a network printer, you need to add a connection to the printer for each computer on the network.
    1. Open Printers by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.
    2. On the toolbar, click Add a printer.
    3. In the Add Printer Wizard, select Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer, and then follow the steps in the wizard.
