Hi the problem you are having is more than likely going to be associated with the pcb board failing this controls the heating element and the temp sensor you will probably find a bad solder or failing component on the pcb side of the board these can be replaced but you need to work out the age of the drier compared to what else might go wrong let me know ok

My hotpoint ctd40 has stopped heating again, the

Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

HOTPOINT CTD40 CONDENSING DRYER not drying clothes any more.fault codes is on/off light and time delay lights are flashing after 30 seconds of switching the appliance on.the condenser unit is free of fluff...

Without actually taking meter readings I would suggest that its probably the thermostats that are fitted to the heater unit on the back of the appliance.

My hotpoint ctd 40 wont heat up

Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.
A ohm meter test for these parts is here.

most likely, there is a blockage in your exhaust. take it apart and check every inch from your dryer to the outdoors. i clean mine once a year, it keeps the dryer running efficiently. when lint backs up in there, the heat cannot get out and there is a sensor that will shut off the heating element when it gets to a certain temp, so your clothes will take a long time to dry

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail(meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) thatmight need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can tripout or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehaveprograms that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcodeshowing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also bethe fault.
