It is definitely a problem with the heating element.. check for open circuits around the filament area. Look for any loose contacts or burnt wires. If none of appear fishy then you may have to get the filament replaced. If you want the spares for your dish washer just in case.. ask me i will get you the link

Dont forget to turn off power before you try this. Its a high voltage appliance and there's a serious risk of electric shock.

CHECK FOR OPEN FUSE OR OPEN FILAMENT (HEATING ELEMENT)
CAREFUL IN DOING SO... BE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED.
CHECK FOR LOOSE OR BURNT CONNECTIONS ESPECIALLY THROUGH HE FILAMENT.

Hi there

the heating element must be busted and partly shorted which makes the dryer drawing excess current. change this with something with lower resistance. Watts = volts times amps. Volts/ohms = amps.

and check also your thermal fuse. this might be also busted. you can find a replacement in an electronics shop.

here is a site which helps troubleshoot your dryer.

hope this helps ^_^

Hi the problem could really be either but its going to be more than likely the temp sensor failing you will need to test this to see if it is working they can be replaced relitively cheap but depending on the age or dryer its wether anything else is going to go wrong as well but this all depends on the age let me know ok

Our hotpoint ctd40 condenser dryer aquarius trips our household rcd panel when you try to start the machine all the power lights are on and it does not blow the plug fuse. I have cleaned all the filters...

I would get an electrician to check the machine as it appears to have an earth fault on the machine wiring , This type of fault will operate the RCD quicker than the fuse will operate. I am a qualified electrician by trade.

hi the problem you are having is more than likely going to be associated with the pcb board failing this controls the heating element and the temp sensor you will probably find a bad solder or failing component on the pcb side of the board these can be replaced but you need to work out the age of the drier compared to what else might go wrong let me know ok

My hotpoint aquarius dryer is not got any heat

Most likely reason is failure of thermostat/s or heater element.
As you do not specify model, Ir is difficult to tell you exactly where to locate them, but generally speaking they are at the rear of the dryer.
Hope this helps.

My door for a hotpoint ctd40 tumble drier wont stay closed. The spring latch seems ok but not holding dooe closed. Any ideas since it dont say anything in my manual about it and its 2 yrs old. cheers andy

Hi andy.

the fault is likely to be in the roller catch mechanism. Hotpoint have modified these. Part Number is C00257618.

It includes both door latch and catch.
If you have problems obtaining one please email me on: aardvark.repairs@btinternet.com or call me on 01733 307019

most likely, there is a blockage in your exhaust. take it apart and check every inch from your dryer to the outdoors. i clean mine once a year, it keeps the dryer running efficiently. when lint backs up in there, the heat cannot get out and there is a sensor that will shut off the heating element when it gets to a certain temp, so your clothes will take a long time to dry
