I see I am not the only one who is having some difficulty with the monitor, however if the monitors do have a 3 Year Warranty on it, and it would be best to get it sent in, and properly repaired. It looks great (use mine for games as well as standard usage), but remember if they put the warranty on it, then send it in and let the guys who made it fix what they didn't do right the first time.

You are right it is a stuck or dead pixel, usually if it is a colred line but not grey it is a stuck pixel at the beginning of the line you can try a utility designed to flash bright colors repetedly over time to see if this will "unstick" it. Also you could have a dry joint on your TCP which would require opening it up to diagnose.

My viewsonic Va1912wb flashes horizontal lines when you turn it on and i know it is not in pal and it is not the refresh trate help me please

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.

Horizontal or vertical lines flashing/running across the screen poses serious display issues with any LCD/CRT monitors. It only boils down to 2 possible causes :
  • Corrupted video driver
  • Hardware issue
To help you determine which of the above, here's what you need to do.
  • Ensure that the computer is turned OFF
  • Disconnect ALL USB devices except the keyboard
  • Turn the computer on and immediately hit "DEL" (in some systems, it's the "F2") key repeatedly until you reach a different screen. (not the usual Windows screen)
  • Welcome to the BIOS screen
  • From here, spend 30min to 1 hour observing if the lines are present in this mode
If you still see the horizontal lines, then there's a need for the monitor to be serviced by a certified/trained technician. The link below will direct you to their support page for repair/replacement options, depending on your warranty status :

Otherwise, the problem can be resolved by re-installing the operating system.

I hope this helps, Thanks for using Fixya.

Looking like there is an issue with the powerboard on the monitor. This problem you are having appears to be common with this monitor, with a lot of them failing for no apparent reason

My viewsonic va1912wb just flat-out died. Won't turn on, no lights, no response. Is there a likely cause, and is there anything user-repairable?

Hello,

You have monitor with a very common problem, a dead power supply. After 2-3 years many LCD monitor power supplies will fail just like you have described. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the tight space of the monitor case. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. We will have a repair guide posted 12/29 after about 5:00 central time that should get you back going again. The repair guide will be on our web site at: www.ccl-la.com If you have any questions please let me know at the address below.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

No display on Viewsonic VA1912wb

Your monitor sounds like it has gone bad. Cost for a repair is not worth it, a new one would be cheaper. Prices have gone down a lot in three years

I had a Gateway 19" TFT that did the same thing.
Does the power light stay on? If so, you more than likely have "dry" solder joints at the inverters. Take it apart & shoot a little solder on the inverter solder joints. Good as new now. The solder joints dry out because of the high heat generated. This is a very common problem.
