Keep in mind that this is Hi Def. set and if you are receiving an analog signal the picture is not quality. It will appear snowy or busy and not clear. Do you have a hi def cable or satellite source? If so make sure you are using the hdmi inputs or at worse the component input. Tune to a hi def channel and the picture should be great. If not you may have a problem and then I would exhange the unit from where it was purchased.

Best picture calibration settings

For any TV; irrespective of its brand or type, set the contrast to 70 to 80%; brightness to 30 to 35% will produce a clear and vivid picture in B/W. Set the color to Zero, and check this first. After you have satisfied with the picture in Black/White [B/W], advance the color intensity, according to your viewing taste. This adjustment will depend on individual taste. Anyway, note the skin tone of the news reader at the studio. Take this color a reference. That's all.

I own a 3 year old Panasonic TH-50px77u. The picture has changed and no longer shows and red color in the picture. This seemed to change when I plugged in an XBOX video game 3 night s ago.

If I understand this correctly, since you connected one of the HDMI inputs to an X-box, you do not see any red in any picture from any source, not even the SD Photo display input. White areas in the picture are cyan colored; other areas are various shades of blue-green. Red areas are black. This is the worst case; it is not clear from your description whether this is what you see or if the red areas are just not red enough.

Try going to the Picture menu and changing Picture Mode to "Normal", and Normal to "set". Turn Color mgmt. off. Refer to pages 26-27 of your owner's manual (download here). If this doesn't help, try selecting different Color temp settings. Make a note of which combinations of settings are giving you good results and which are giving you poor results.

If you cannot get close to factory default color, download the service manual and post back so we can take a look at the numbers in the video processor's EEPROM (data memory). We can continue diagnostics from that point if necessary. You may want to compare the EEPROM numbers for the settings that give bad results with the nominal values given in the service manual - if one of the numbers for red is way off, that could be the problem. Please post back before trying to change any numbers in the EEPROM - we don't want to make a bigger mess, and it would be a good idea to figure out what is going on first.

Modified Picture Settings Reset Each Time TV Is Turned Off/On

Your TV may have been put into shop mode or demo mode. How to get out of "Shop Mode"

1. Press [Source] to get to the Air or Cable input on the TV or TV remote

2. Press [Volume +] once on the TV itself (not the remote)
Next step must be completed while the volume bar is still on screen

3. Press and hold [Menu] on the TV itself (not the remote) for about 7 seconds
If the screen flashes "Dynamic Mode", the process worked

4. Finally check whether the Picture Mode is "Shop Mode" or not after passing "INFO" on Remote Control. If picture mode is still in “Shop Mode” try the alternative way below

Alternative Method

Press [Source] on TV remote to get to the AIR or CABLE input
Press [Menu]
Press [Down Arrow] to highlight SETUP and press [Enter]
Press [Enter] again on PLUG AND PLAY
Wait 10 seconds
Press [Enter] to select ENGLISH (or choose an alternative language
Press [Right Arrow] to highlight HOME and press [Enter]
Press [Menu] repeatedly until you see the message ENJOY YOUR WATCHING
Confirm you are out of shop mode by pressing [Info] on the TV remote
