It sounds like it hasnt been activated and the time is up.you can re install as a fresh copy and you"re given 30 days to activate your copy.if youve recently updated to newer sp it needs to be activated.you can try removing the battery and power;reconnect and rebooting sometimes if youre persistent ,eventually youll get something to come on.

Why has it stopped working?

Apparently in some cases all you need to do is start Excel/Word/Powerpoint/Outlook as Administrator in order to get permissions to do something on the computer. If you're using Windows 7, right-click the application in the Start Menu and click "Run as administrator". See if this works for you.

In Windows 8, open the Home screen, find the application you're trying to open; right-click it and select "Open as administrator" at the bottom.
. If you are still experiencing the issue I can suggest this program Excel Repair Toolbox

Activate AERO - If AERO is disabled or Not working

1. Right click anywhere there is open space on your desktop and left click on Personalize
2. Click on Window Color and Appearance.
3. At the bottom of the Windows Color and Appearance window click “Open classic appearance properties for more color options”
4. Look on the scroll list and see what scheme is set, more then likely it is defaulted to "Windows Vista Basic”, ensure that Enable Transparency is checked.
5. Look at the scroll list and select "Windows Aero" as the new scheme
6. Click on Apply and then click OK
7. When you get back to your desktop you should be able to see the background through the borders of open windows now!

Advanced Troubleshooting – Use these steps if required.

1. From the Start button, type REGEDIT into the Search box, then press Enter to launch the Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
Note: If you did not disable UAC (read my "Disable User Account Control in Windows Vista " article) then you will be prompted to consent to the action you're about to perform. Click Continue.
2. Locate the following key in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM
3. Modify the following value (REG_DWORD):
Composition-Change the existing value to 1.
4. Modify the following value (REG_DWORD): Composition Policy. Change the existing value to 2.
5. Close Registry Editor.
6. Open an elevated Command Prompt window.
7. In the Command Prompt window, type :- net stop uxsms press Enter.
Wait for the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service to stop, then type in :- net start uxsms .
8. We *might* need to restart your computer.

How to identify acer veriton model number

Hello,

In Windows 7 try the following,
Open a command prompt and type in the following command to get the local computer model name.
wmic csproduct get name

and this will get you the serial number
wmic bios get serialnumber

Alot of the times the computer model number and serial number are located on a sticker on the rear or bottom of the machine.

You could also possibly find this information in the system windows in Windows. Right click on computer and choose properties.

The automatic update for windows has found several patches to install, however i cannot get them to install. how important is it to continue installing these patches.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ download the latest version and run it to clean all unwanted files and junk in your computer...

And then follow the step's below:

Method 1
Download and install Windows Installer 3.1 and reboot.

Method 2
If that doesn’t work then you can try to stop the Automatic Update service and clear out the previously downloaded files and cache.

Open the Services console by clicking on Start, Run and typing in services.msc and clicking Ok. Stop the Automatic Update service by right clicking on it and choosing Stop.
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and make sure that hidden files and folders are shown.

Navigate to WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete all the files within this folder. Then navigate to WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\EventCache and delete all the files in there as well.

In the Services console, start the Automatic Update service by right clicking on it and choosing Start. You may also want to check its properties and make sure it is set to Automatic for startup type.

Download the latest version of the Windows Update Agent and save it to your desktop.

Close your web browser and any other open programs and double click the WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe file to run it.

If you get a message saying that the Update Agent is already installed, then click on Start, Run and then click the Browse button and navigate to where WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe was saved on your desktop and click on it one time. Click on the Open button and in the Open line, click once on WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe file so its highlighted. Click after the last quotation mark in the line and enter /wuforce after the last quotation mark so it looks something like "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce. Click Ok to install the Windows Update Agent
Close all open programs and install the update.
Restart your computer and try downloading and installing Windows updates again. If your computer already has some updates that were downloaded during the time you were performing the above steps, cancel them and download them again from scratch.
