Check the sensitivity on the back of the powerhead. If it's too light the door will touch the ground and come right back up if it's too hard you could damage the door b/c it's going down with too much force. This is the amount of force that you want the door to hit before returning back to the up position if something is in the way, some people use a roll of paper towels to check this force. Hope this helps.

There will be adjustment knobs on the side of the unit. Usually two white knobs that you have to turn with a small flathead screwdriver. These are the limit / load adjustments.

These adjustments are VERY sensitive, so be patient!

Make sure the door sensors are pointed at one another. Each of them has a small light that should come on when they are correctly pointed at one another. If you cannot get both light to come on you have bad sensors.

Craftman garage door opener closes via the key pad and immediately reverses and reopens. have adjusted travel limit as well as force. Any suggestions

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a little. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors or the wiring to them.

It sounds like the door is traveling too far in the down direction. When it hits the floor the safety causes it to reverse to the open position. You need to adjust the 'down limit' not the force.

Garage door opener is malfunctioning

It sounds like the gear and sprocket assembly has gone bad. This would cause the symptoms you have.

Garage door closes then reopens (does not stay shut)

On the side of your opener you will find the down limit control. Using a small screwdriver turn this control in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. May take some tweaking to get it just right.
