All lights went out in my refrigerator/freezer

I have a Viking side by side refrigerator/freezer (built in 42" x 24") and as I was putting groceries away all the lights in both the freezer and refrigerator went out, an alarm started beeping, and an orange light started to flash in the display panel. The appliance seems to be working fine with the exception of the lights. I though maybe it had gone into sabbath mode accidentally but when I pushed the control buttons that are necessary to do that I found that wasn't the problem.
Any suggestions???
Thank you!
I don't have a model # since we bought the house with the refrigerator built in already. I think it's about 3 - 4 years old.

I would like to know who do I contact to have a general recall issued on the Viking Refrigerator ??- freezes all my expensive food - cracks in the vinyl inside door - drawers and plastic parts break with out misusing- leaks underneath the refrigerator - stainless steel handles peel an yes the lights go out for no reason- for an appliance that costs so much the 48" designer series Viking is nothing but problems - I'm tired of taking time off work, when I can get a repairman out to my home only to try to correct the same problem over and over again - have had 11 service calls in 2 1/2 years -

Went away for 24 hrs. We had a storm and lost power for a short time. When we came home the alarm was activated on the refrig. We reset it and realized the frig and freezer were not working. The interior lights work bu nothing else. The temp panel is out also. What do I do? Is there a reset button? The breaker did not trip and it is getting power because the lights inside are working.

I have the 36" bottom mount and all the lights went out but the unit was working fine. The power company had cut the power to our homoe to do some work in our yard. I turned the breaker off for 20 seconds and then turned it back on and all the lights worked fine. Weird, but it worked.

Viking makes pure junk.

I'm experiencing the same issue. The door is shut yet the door open alarm will sound off randomly throughout the day and night. I even removed the door switch which keeps the light off, so the refrigerator should think the door is shut but it still goes off constantly.

The freezer isn't defrosting, and as a result the ice is building up inside it, and the temperature isn't as low as it should be.

I do not really do that much on the viking brands but you are having a defrost problem which is typical in all refrigerators. The problem will be 1 of 3 things. 1st defrost timer, 2nd defrost t-stat which is located on the coils in the freezer section behind the freezer wall and 3rd the defrost heater. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance but 1 of these is your problem For temp fix so you have your cooling back you could remove the back wall of the freezer and using a hair drier deice the unit down so air can flow properly again. Good luck. Rick

Condensation build-up on the bottom seal of Viking freezer door

I have seen this before and it goes beyond the seal, if it was the seal, you would see vapor trails around the area where the seal is leaking. You may have a breakdown of foam in the door. How old is it?

I have a side by side Viking refrigerator and after leaving the door open a little too long the lights went out in both the refrigerator and freezer. I figured that they would go back on automaticlly after...

Remove the center grill of the top grill and shut the power off and back on, the lights should reset

When the lights are working open the Ref door then close the freezer drawer, watching to see if the light in the freezer shuts off. It should shut off when the freezer is about 1" from closing. If it stays on until the door is fully closed then there is a problem with the light switch in the freezer.

Normally when you leave the doors open until the lights shut off, it should reset when both doors are closed
