Toshiba tecra 9100

Hello,

i brought a Tecra 9100 off of Ebay. It was working great. Then Windows XP updated to SP2 and I lost all my sound from the built in speakers and the earphone jack. I tried to update the Yamaha driver. Now it want even recognize the driver. If I go to Device Manager Yamaha is not listed. When I try to download the updated Yamaha driver it says " Not Installed". Can you please help me getting my sound back. Thank you very much.

David,
had same problem after upgrading to XP SP2. Installed the driver AWI 2152 from the Yamaha coorporation and it works great. You´ll find it everywhere on the net. Installing the Toshiba driver for SP2 doesn´t work because during the installation it will ask for a cab file that you won´t find.

Cheers

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

From what you describe, your 40GB should be compatible with Tecra 9100.
I'd suggest you reset the BIOS settings to the factory defaults, just to ensure there are no wierd settings. Have you managed to use any other HDD with your Tecra 9100 previously?

Have You checked for a BIOS update for this model / vintage ?

Tecra 9100 notebook sound driver download location

Does not work anyway...

I've tried the 3152, 2152, and a bunch of others from Toshiba, MS and Yamaha.

Basically Toshiba took this stand, if yor out of warranty, your **** out of luck. I'm a true retailer and because of Toshiba's crappy atitude I've dropped thier laptops. They may have a decent laptop, when they work, don't depend on service otherwise.....

No sound

Hi

Pls check in BIOS in advanced options, if the onboard audio is enabled or not. If not, enable it.
Pls check if the windows audio is enabled in services.msc.
If it is listed, make sure tht it is enabled.
If it is already enabled, stop the service and restart it.
If it still doesnt work, then download the driver from the yamaha website and then install it.

Toshiba Tecra 9100; "output device error" message

No sound? The only solution I've found is to get a USB headset like the Logitech USB Headset 20. I have had this same problem with my Tecra 9100 for almost 6 months. I tried on a pair of USB Headset and it works! because it bypasses your internal soundcard. The downside is that if you have a great pair of speakers on your laptop, then it's kind of a waste that you can never use it. But at least, with this, you can now listen to CDs and chat on the internet
