Question about Apple iPod 3rd generation MP3 Player

Ipod help My MacBook won't recognize that my ipod is connected, it won't show up in itunes or on my desk top. when i try to restart my ipod it will be on the folder with the exclamation mark, and the apple symbol. when I hold down the pause and the menu it gives a straight line for a second then right back to the Folder and Apple symbol.     my ipod keeps reseting and going to the apple symbol and turning back off. i was trying to update it nd it woulnt work and now this is happening. Help?

1. Reset or restore your iPod for a try, this can fix many general iPod problems. 2. You may try this iTunes alternative, I always use it to upload music and video to my iPod once my iTunes can't recognize my iPod, my friends recommend it to me, it's safe and works pretty well, you can also use it to copy music and video from ipod to computer for backup, it's useful when you lost your iTunes library. 3. Update your iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod. I got this method from Apple technical support. Hope it helps. My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod


put your ipod in disk mode by following these steps.
press and hold the Menu and Center buttons on the clickwheel. when you see the apple appear, switch your fingers to the center and play/pause buttons.
whena check mark appears plug it into you computer and it should detect and mount.
add music and have fun.

try holding down the "power" and "home"buton untill you i pod shows the apple logo then try again it will take about 1 too 3 mins to restart

1) install the iTunes program, and use the reset/sync button on program, obviously connect the shuffle cable USB to the PC. and that will reset the software,
if not, go to store, if you got warranty, and change for a new one.
it is suppose to reset.
