Laptop all whit screen

Dell Inspiron 1420 Notebook PC?

The white screen can be fixed. How?

Connect a VGA monitor to the laptop. Connect to the VGA port on the right rear. Example of a VGA Cable, and VGA connector,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

You can use a CRT type monitor, (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor that has a VGA cable.
By default the display should show on the external VGA monitor.

No?
Press, and hold the Fn key down, and at the same time tap the F8 key ONCE.
Still no?
There are at least 3 display options available;

1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor of laptop AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F8 key.

No display on the external VGA monitor, means you have a bad graphics chipset. Replace motherboard.
Display does show on the external VGA monitor, means you have a problem with;

1) Video Cable
or
2) Screen Inverter
or
3) LCD screen

Video Cable:
The Display Panel Cable (Video Cable for Dell), connects to the motherboard by the left Hinge.
Goes under the left Hinge, and up into the Display Assembly.
It then connects to the Screen Inverter, and to the back of the Display Panel. (LCD screen for Dell)

From normal opening, and closing of the laptop, the Display Panel Cable may become pinched in the left Hinge.
This can cause;
A) The connection at the motherboard to come loose
B) The connection at the back of the Display Panel to come loose
C) Stretch the wires inside the Display Panel Cable's sheath, and damage the wires. (Break)

If you are lucky just the connection at the motherboard, and/or connection at the back of the Display panel, may have come loose.

Diagnoses is to NOT just look at the connections, but physically push the connectors of the Display Panel Cable, into the connector at the motherboard, AND back of the Display Panel.

Visually inspect the Display Panel Cable's sheath. Do you see any outward appearance of damage? This means the tiny wires inside may be damaged.
Replace the Display Panel Cable.

Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Remove the Keyboard Cover.

Unfasten the Keyboard, LEAVING the Keyboard Cable ATTACHED to the motherboard. Roll the Keyboard over, and lay it upside down on the Palm Rest Cover,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1420/en/SM/display.htm#wp1129771

[ NOTE*
Two Philips head screws at top of Keyboard. After removing, lift the top of the Keyboard up a little, slide it a LITTLE towards the Display Panel.
DO NOT lift it straight up at first.
There are 3 plastic tabs on the bottom of the Keyboard, that slide into the Palm Rest Cover. If you pick it straight up you will break those tabs off ]

In Removing the Display Assembly, note where number 1 points to.
This is the Display Panel Cable's connection, TO the motherboard.

Note where number 2 points to. Those cables going to the Mini-Card Antenna, HAVE to be reconnected, right back to the SAME terminals on the Mini-Card. Make a mark on the cables, and matching marks on the Mini-Card.

Use the instructions in Removing the Display Bezel.
Use the instructions in Removing the Display Panel.

View the last illustration in Removing the Display Panel.
Note how the Display Panel Cable attaches to the Display Panel, and Screen Inverter

Number 2 points to the connection at the back of the Display Panel
Number 6 points to the connection to the Screen Inverter
The Black connector that is not numbered at the bottom, is the motherboard connector of the Display Panel Cable.

This is a better view of the screen Inverter,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Inspiron-1420-1421-LCD-Inverter-Backlight-Combo-/370274752470

Display Panel Cable checks out? Look at the screen Inverter. This small circuit board is located at the bottom of the Display Panel, and behind the Display Bezel. Closer look at link listed above.

Is the cable coming from the Display Panel Cable, plugged in tightly to it?
Does the screen Inverter look damaged?

Post back in a Comment, and we will go from there.

I had a strange discoloration problem with my compaq presario CQ62-220US. This started out of no where. I contacted HP COMPAQ. After explaining the problem, they said would have to send it back and give...

It cannot be a video card problem. If it were, you won't get good display on the external monitor as well. It sounds more like a defective LCD screen data cable. This cable internally connects the LCD screen to the video adapter, & is accessible by disassembling the LCD screen panel & the small hinge cover panel above the keyboard. A replacement cable with the same part number might fix the problem.

HPf2105 LCD Monitor on/off button broke. How do I fix it?

I fixed my with 100% Silicone RTV adhesive, just put the button back in the hole and apply a blob of RTV to what you left of the broken button hinges, the button is being held in place by small molded palstic hinges, it is a very cheap way of making button assembly for expensive monitor, they skimped on this one.

Lcd hinges cracked

The parts you're looking for are called "display panel hinges" You can buy these parts from compaq/hp directly, but personally, I would call, find out the part number and try to find a cheaper place to purchase them. A detailed video on removing the LCD panel completely can be found here. This will show you how to remove the broken hinges, and on the left side of the page, you can select videos that will show you how to do practically everything else. To get your replacement parts go to the compaq website (I couldn't find the part without the serial) or call 1-800-227-8164. There is also a live chat option once you go to the support section of the website. You may be able to rig the display so it works without buying a part, but now that you have the information, it's up to you. I hope this helps!

Cracked monitor

Hi there.
I'm in no doubt that the screen has to be replaced and maybe other components to if they have suffered shock damage.
If you want to check to see if the system still works plug an external monitor to the laptop, then use the keyboard toggle to switch screens (usually hold down Fn and hit the F key with a monitor icon on it)
If you get a good display whilst using the external and the OS works properly then it will just be the screen and any plastics that need replacing.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Kitchenaid model KHHS179LSS Microwave oven handle replacement

There is a pin holding the door on upper right hand corner of the door. Holding the door in the open position, lift up on the door a little and remove the pin. The door will come off. There are two screws on the edges of the door on the end where the handle is located. Remove the screws. Now, Take a slim screw driver, and carefully pry between the inside door panel and the ourside door panel starting at the end where the door handle is. Lift the inside of the door out. The opposite end of the inside door panel will come out last. Believe me, this works. Getting it back together is a little bit different, but it snaps back together without using tools. Just put the inside of the door back by laying it down with the handle side down after you have replaced the handle of course. Now, pushing in on the inside of the door panel starting on the handle side, start with lining up the panel and push gently. It will go back into place much much easier than it comes out.

Compaq Presario Laptop (M2000 series) hinge

Very easy to replace if you can get new ones. Remove the batter and remove all screws under the battery as well as all the screws to the right and left of the battery location (3 on the V5000). Now back on the other side gently pry up on the portion of the "keyboard area" directly above the keyboard. A small keyboard will make this handy

Now you'll see screws holding the monitor the the notebook. Remove those screws and the monitor will be freed. Be careful with the wireless antenna wires and xvga cable. Now remove all the little rubber pads from the monitor and you'll find all the screws underneath. Remove those and you'll see how the hinges are attached to the monitor. There are three screws directly to the screen and a few to the frame on each side. Remove those and the hinges will come off.

Replacement hinges are available from HP's website for about $50 + shipping but call them up and give them *hit and see if they'll help you out.
