You normally replace the entire power supply if these units are dead.

Dvd player shows no sign of power, wont switch on, or eject tray.

If it is black or discolered, yes, it is probably shot. I had the same thing happen to my Sony woofer.I found a replacement ironicaly, at a True Value store. We equated it to a power surge. Cost me about $5.00. It is now good as new.

The dvd player will not power up. I opened the case and found the fuse was blown on the power block and there it a burnt sopt on t the board. if i replace the fuse do you think it will power up?

I suspect that if you replace the fuse it will just blow again.

Do you know what the component is nearest the scorch mark is on the PCB?

Their should be a number on it if it's an IC or Transistor and I suspect its the Power Regulator IC.

No power to Insignia dvd player.

Pop the top of the DVD player and check the fuse. It's located right next to the AC power plug on the inside. If the fuse is OK, replace the DVD player. Repairs cost more than a new unit. Sony has DVD players from $ 40. Any repair on any device would cost more than that. If your lucky, the unit just took a surge and blew the fuse. Hope this helps

I need to identify and replace the fuse in Sony DVP-NS75P

I think you are asking fuse in Sony DVP-NS575P DVD Player.
Its just next to AC wire connector and not ordinary glass tube type.
Locate it in below image of PCB of power supply board..

There's no power

Inside the machine there is a small fuse that may have blown. You need to remove the cover and replace the fuse. This is an easy fix as I had the same issue with mine.
