Question about Televison & Video
Hi, Our Sanyo TV turns on fine but after a short period of time (varies), the picture is overlaid with a large black box leaving about an inch and a half border all the way around the screen showing the TV program on the border only. When menu button is pushed, black box disappears, but reappears as soon as graphics clear from screen.
This AVM-2054 TV has a G4Z-20540 Chassis.

It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck

It sounds like you have the Text feature on the closed caption option turned on. your going to most likly need an original remote to turn this feature off as far as i know of. If you do not have an original toshiba remote to turn off the clkosed caption or in some sets you have to go into the menu to turn this feature off, maybe you can borrow one from a friend that has one or you can get one from http://www.remotes.com. Good liuck and let us know if you need more assistance
