The relay controling the main picture supply should be faulty and that is why you are hearing the clicking sound....better get it changed..

there will be relay that controls the power supply to the main display device...
if the relay is faulty in power supply will not be passing through the areas which it is necessary to pass

  • dewan nafees ahmed Feb 26, 2008

""Relay will only be in "broadcasting" of AM and FM signals.""

    any rule??

relay is a protection device. and this is the one which is responsible for tripping of the circuit when there is some short circutiing in the board.

this type of protection can be found in power boards of many devices.

    am i wrong?

  • dewan nafees ahmed Feb 26, 2008

relay is a basic component used in all circuits for protection of power circuits. if the relay is not maiking that "tick" sound then what component you suppose will make that sound?? capacitors??

    i dont think so...

    anyways good luck.

    thank you.

hi there, red light flashing means a shorted parts on the unit. You will need to check the horizantal section for any shorted it. If you find anything faulty note the part number or name any information you can provide about the faulty part and i will tell you how and where you can get it.

    probably some faulty capacitors

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Feb 13, 2008

Sorry for being vague... what i meant was you have to turn off the power supply and open the set. Using a multimeter look for faulty capacitors in the horizontal sweep section or any other open circuits. Please note that this is a rather difficult task if you are not familiar with electronic circuits and if this is the case i would leave this job to a tech!

Yes that is the horizontal sweep and sure thing you can let me know so that we can proceed further..

It is a problem in the power supply section.. From The readings you have provided The problem has got to be in the power supply section. You will have to replace one or more faulty capacitors which are causing that click sound.. I would advice you take the help of a tech to get them replaced. Repairs would run you about 75$.
    Good luck!

Sure thing welchco. Hello sweet rascal there will be no component called relay in televison. Relay will only be in "broadcasting" of AM and FM signals.

Your model uses CRTs instead of a bulb. Its usually the deflection board which causes that. Thats about 180.00 for a replacement board.

I replaced lamp and picture shows well except at

Light from the lamp is getting itnto the top inside of the set Just changing the lamp should not cause this problem. I've seen this where someone has cahnged the light engine and did not reinstall the foam gasket aroun the lense . But any way look for an opening from the lamp area into the upper chamber where the mirror is.Light from the lamp should only go into the light engine and not into the upper chaber except through the projection lense.

N o picture just static noise

The symptom sounds like a dead tuner and the screen blanking may be due to missing video synchronization signals which may cause either blanking or 'blue screen' on some sets.
This could also still be because of a failing power supply although they will generally just cause no turn-on at all.
I would first substitute another TV just to be sure your signal source (cable or satellite) isn't causign the loss of signal.
