Brother 6800 light copies and ptints and faxes on brother 6800. I have changed both the drum unit and toner cart twice but the problem comes back after only 5 or 6 copies. I need to know how to make it add more toner per copy. I am not afraid to do what is required to repair, I am trained on ricoh copiers and printers

Clean your laser window on the bottom of the interior of the machine.

The only other common options can be are the contacts of the drum. They can become bent and not give good contact. Bend them back.

When the laser fails it will also become light but it will stay light once it is going.

Check the stupid things - once I had a customer change the toner and not take the tapes off. Had similar symtoms to your problem.

TN -430 toner cart. 2500 copy count.
TN -460 toner cart. 4000 copy count

These are the two units that fit the 4100 modles .
You must be receving all lot faxs to use up the toner that fast.

You can go in to setup and change the toner to use less. Will need service book that came with the unit. Hope this helps

Brother HL-2040, The drum light keeps coming on and the left side of the printed page is all black?

Sounds like the toner cart. has toner packed at one end and possibly the drum cartridge is dirty. Remove both from the printer, separate the 2 and vacuum the drum cart. - them blow it clean. Run the drum wire cleaner (purple/blue tab on front edge of drum cart.) back & forth a number of times. Blow out the inside of the printer to get out toner dust. Reinstall toner back into drum cart, then hold GO/Control button down until all lights are on, let go, reinstall toner&drum back into printer, close door. Power down - then back on. That should do it. Worst case, you'll have to replace the drum unit.

What i have seen on other customers fax's that the toner cart. is bad. bot before you go put a buy a new 1. take the toner out of the drum unit, blow out the drum unit with can air or compressor, ( Do this out side or some place where toner is not a factore ) slide the blue or green slide lever move it back an Fourth bought 15 times put the toner back in, tray it, if not then tray new toner, if not then the drum unit, hope the cheaper works out for you

Light copies

You may have your machine set to print in "toner save" mode. Check your machine settings by printing a list. Also, some generic toner cartridges have too much polymer in the mix and will print light copies. If you change back to OEM toner, you may have to change the drum too, as the extra polymer stays in the drum unit and weakens the mix.

Intellifax 4100 grinding noice

Probably caused by the toner cart. Only use genuine new Brother brand supplies. Remans fail quite often with Brother machines.
Possibly bad gears on fuser drive. But with the poor print quality, I suspect it is the toner.
