Plug in problem

It will turn on but freezes at the opening screen. Cannot access the menu whatsoever. I've tried plugging it into USB in the back, removing the battery, sliding the Hold button to the right as advised in forum suggestions but nothing budges it from the opening screen. Also: it does not show up as being attached to any computer I plug it into. Got a fix?

When I plug my sansa clip in to charge it works, but when I pull it out and turn it on it doesn't work?

SanDisk and Sansa.com have the manuals and software available, of course.
They're minimalistic, though; likewise, the media converter is not maintained and its flaws show.
The short way is; attach the USB cable and plug it in, then move a bunch of mp3s into the MUSIC directory; they can be in subfolders for convenience of organization and they'll be found (except for some long filenames and other things the firmware handles poorly.) Be sure to wait once you order the copy, for it to complete; or not all of your files will make it.

If you want to do more with the player, and play formats like .OGG and .FLAC, or move YouTube videos there, read a bit at RockBox.org
eBay people will of course gladly sell car chargers, etc.

You need to use the sansa media converter program that came with the sansa on the CD. This is used for photos and for video. The supported files are listed on the screen once you open it.You shouldnt have any problems transferring music to it using that program

you need to go under settings then click on usb modes then change the mode to msc. if you dont have the option of usb mode, then do the following:
1) Download the sansa firmware updater from the sandisk website (http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/Installer/1082/SansaUpdaterInstall.exe).
2) The program then turn off your sansa. (unplug it first).
3) Now move the hold button to the right and then hold down the center (round) button and then the power button.
4) Once your sansa is on, you can stop pressing the other buttons.
5) Now plug in your sansa.
6) Once this is done, your firmware updater should automatically start. If it doesn't, go to C:\programfiles\sandisk\.... and open it.
7) Select the most recent firmware and download it (it should automatically install).
8) Once this is done, disconnect your mp3 player (your firmware will then update).
9) Turn your mp3 player off.
10) Turn your mp3 player on.
11) go to Settings, USB Settings, and select MSC.
12) plug your MP3 player back into your computer and it should now recognize it.

I had the same problem - the player needs to be unlocked (the little switch on top) to be able to charge - pretty stupid if you ask me but what can you do
