Error code h4 on sharp al-1642cs - Sharp AL-1642CS Copier

If you replaced the lamp then the problem could be the thermo fuse or a dirty thermistor. Please check these and keep me updated.

To reset the H4 condition on just about any Sharp AL series copier press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "C" then the far left key (exposure mode) then the "C" key then the far left again.
So in other words C, far left, C, far left
Some model's use 2 other initial codes, so you may need to use one of these 2 alternate codes to get your display to go blank. The rest of the procedure is the same.
Alternate codes are: #, * , C, * or pound,star,C,star and also
#, Interupt, C, Interupt
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Now key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the print button.
The machine should reset and the code should be gone.
9 times out of 10 this is a false code that pops up due to power surges or noise.
If the code comes back this means you have a heater lamp or thermal fuse (more common) failure in the fusing area and will need service.

press (C AUTO C AUTO)display will turn off then enter 14 then press start.

CH light blinking - The DV tank is not installed.

CH light steady - Door switch is not turned on (interlock switch is ON).

ERROR CODE H4 ON SHARP AL-1642CS

Usually a flase code on these models. Try clearing by pressing "C" then far left key (Exposure Mode) then "C" then far left again. Must be pressed quickly and if done correctly display will go blank. Then key in 14 as if making 14 copies. Then press Print.
Short Version: C, far left, C, far left, 14, print
If code returns then you have a fusing unit problem but 9 times out of 10 this is just a false code.

`the fuser is not the drum it the heating assembly from where the copy finally comes out of the machine . the buttons you must press in sequence are these: # , interrupt, C, interrupt then enter the no. 14 , then presss the green start button.

all these buttons are on the machine keyboard nothing to do with the computer.

Here is what worked for me.
You need to alternate pressing the clear button then one of the auto buttons until the display lights turn off.

First press the clear button (red letter “C” on the unit) then the auto button. (below the word auto there are 3 buttons. Press the one on the far left that has no other markings on it. This will only take 2 or 3 times back and forth.

When the display is blank enter the number 14 (like you were making 14 copies of something) then press the Green (start?) button. Let the copier warm up about 30 seconds and try making a copy.

It worked for me. Still having trouble call Sharp USA 630-378-3590 or Canada 905-568-7140. They were quick and helpful
