Dell dimension 5150 - start up

My dell desktop won't start up. it was left on standby over night a then whilst i was out next day it seems to have broken. there is power, as it tries to start, but it does not recognise the keyboard or screen. it makes strange harsh beep-like noises for about 30 seconds, then does nothing at all. the 3 and 4 lights are lit up on the front and a green light is on the motherboard.

does anybody have an idea as to what is wrong? if so i'd appreciate any help!

thanks, John

You may be knowing there are many types of beeps which made as standard for all pc ...
if the pc beeps for 30 seconds and then starts means there is no input device connected ...(here the standard input device is keyboard)
so c the keyboard is connected properly or not try reconnecting it...
and about the display when sometimes computer makes beeping sound the screen is not displayed ... after connecting that just try is it working or not.. if problem persists then just check the cables of the monitor too... try reconnecting them also.....

I lost my lan driver

The Dell E210882 motherboard has been used in the Dell Dimension 3000. Thus you can try the Dell site for the XP driver. Start here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/dimension-3000 and expand the section for network drivers.

If you have a different OS, try the Intel site since the onboard LAN is the Intel Pro/100 VE hardware. The Intel generic drivers are here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Network+Connectivity&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Adapters&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+PRO%2f100+VE+Desktop+Adapter . Use the drop-down menus to select your OS and drivers if you want to shrink the list below (left-hand side).

If the on-board LAN has failed (it happens), get a PCI ethernet card. Then disable the on-board LAN in the BIOS. Usually that can be accessed by pressing Esc, F1, F2 or F10 on startup. There should be a splash screen telling you which key to press. If you get to the Windows login or Start Screen try again.

I hope this helps.

Multimedia Audio Controller is missing in my Dell OptPlex GX 110 Where and how can I get it?

Right here on Dell Support,

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&os=WW1&osl=en&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P03_GX110&catid=-1&impid=-1

Scroll down to the heading - All Optiplex GX110 (17 files)

The first file listed is Audio (1)

The file title is - Analog Devices - Driver
Go to the right in this box, and left-click on Download, in the blue oblong circle.

In the window that comes up go to the bottom,
Download via your internet browser

Left-click on Download at the bottom left, in the blue oblong circle.

Give it a couple of seconds, and a small window will come up on the right -
Opening R45973.EXE

Left-click on Save File.

Now, write down what is in the heading at the top of the next small window that comes up.
In the wording tells you where the file will download to.

It may have Desktop, or My Documents, or Downloads, in the wording.

{IF you are using a computer with Windows Vista, or Windows 7, it may have -
Desktop, or Documents, or Downloads}

1) Desktop: The file will be right on your desktop screen.
File name is R45973.EXE, and should be next to a folder icon.

2) My Documents: Left-click on Start, then on My Documents

{Or left-click on the Windows logo button, and then on Documents, for Vista and Win7}

3) Downloads: Left-click on Start, then on My Documents (On the right side)
DOUBLE- click on Downloads.

WHEN you see the file name DOUBLE- click right on it.
The Installation Wizard will come up.
Follow the easy instructions.

(In the first two windows just left-click on Next at the bottom. In the last window left-click on Finish)

Once the Drivers are installed, (This is an audio driver file), close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.

Restart your computer.
(P.S. I hope you have the sound turned down! lol!)

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

Driver: A small piece of software that allows the operating system, to 'communicate' with a device.
{In this case your operating system is probably Windows XP Home Edition, and the device is the audio}
