PC Sound Card Connection to Denon AVR-2805 or Samsung 40B610

I have the following equipment and would like to know what is the best, easiest and least expensive way to connect them together to get the best sound output. I have an Auzentech HDA X-Plosion 7.1 DTS Connect Sound Card on my PC that has both a coaxial and toslink connection (supplied toslink cable). I have a Denon AVR-2805 Home Theatre Receiver. I have a Samsung LN40B610 LCD-TV with coaxial input and toslink output as well as regular RCA audio output (which I am presently using to connect to the AVR-2805). At present I don't have a HD - Digital Tuner but will in the near future. I am not sure if the HD Tuner makes any difference in the connection for pc sound or not. Video is not an issue but sound is from my pc to anything. I also have another spare toslink cable. Should I be connecting my pc sound card directly to the receiver or to the tv then to my receiver to get the best sound output? When I get the HD Digital Tuner, does that make any difference for the pc connection? I do know there will be a HDMI connection from the tuner to the LCD tv. Please HELP!!! Thanking you in advance.

  • Should I be connecting my pc sound card directly to the receiver or to the tv then to my receiver to get the best sound output? To your reciver
  • When I get the HD Digital Tuner, does that make any difference for the pc connection?
  • Try to connect everything that is sound onto your reciver then
  • connect all your video to your your TV for now
  • When you get your digital tuner connect all your inputs for video to(in order >reciever>HD Tuner>TV
  • Basicly everything goes to your tuner first.

..or you could buy a universal remote, like Logitech Harmony xx. Denon also makes a universal remote, but it is pretty expensive and not as easy to program as the Harmony.

My denon reciever display wont't work

I read something the other day in the user manual about re-setting the microprocessors if the display doesn't display properly. Turn the amp off.  Hold down the input mode & analog buttons while turning power on. The whole display should flash on & off at 1 sec intervals, then release the two buttons. This resets the microprocessors & supposedly fixes display problems.

Input - EXT-IN button was pushed on remote.

I believe you are going to have to choose another input to get off of ext in. This is just another input on your receiver.

Hope that helps

Pc to denon av 2802

You can use an auxiliary input on your Denon. What type of connection is available on the sound card? Some models have toslink while most have the mini-jacks which will require an adapter (mini-jack to RCA) which you can connect to the AUX input on your Denon. On the computer, make sure the LINE-OUT of the sound card is activated.
