Question about Televison & Video
Hi, I have a KV-29RS22 Sony Trinitron TV (Almost Flat, Black, 10 years old). At the beginning, when I turned it on, the picture started to blink on and off (no image) for about 3 or 5 minutes, after that image became stable, no problems with the sound ever. This behavior is the same in all video inputs.
I opened it up and cleaned it with air spray, removed all dust, but got worst, now tv blinks all the time but I discovered that reducing the picture from tv menu, the blink disappear. I tried to establish a point when the amount of picture does not causes the tv to blink again, but guess what, depending of what I'm watching it makes tv blinking, I mean, if I'm watching a movie where the background is kind of dark tv doesn't blink, if I watch a program or movie with some light on the background tv starts to blink, even if reduced the picture.
Some help will be eternally appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Sounds like the high voltage is marginal.
My experiance is to not put money into a TV that is over ten years old. TVs stress out their electronic components worse than almost any other electronic product. After 10 years, there are so many parts that are ready to fail that your are probably wasting your money trying to get any more life out of it.
Another option is to wholesale replace the main board by sending it to Module Exchange at 972-298-1212,
or PTS Electronics 800-844-7871 ptscorp.com.
Be careful on buying a new one though. Often times, these new technology ones are much worse. Always Google the model number of the set you intend to buy and add the word 'repair' or 'complaint' to see if it is one of the many models that are customer service nightmares being produced by even the most reputable companies today.
Hope ya fix it!
