I would uninstall all versions of the printer and reboot the PC. Check that no remnants of the printer software are left on the PC and then re-install the printer. Use the CD that came with the printer when installing.
I put the error message into Google and was directed to a site whihc suggested a sequence of button presses that re-set the printer. Sorry I stupidly did not keep the site or details - it involved pressing about 5 buttons at the same time and worked a treat.
Turn off high speed printing from the printer properties... This will allow a more stable type of printing... If you have windows, the printer properties in in the control panel's printers folder.
