Sounds like ye old keyboard was compromised by some foreign matter. You'll need to remove it, blow it out with some compressed, air, let it dry, and then, when the moon's full, re install it(just kidding about the full moon, you can do it while it's still waxing, too. Got backup?

Try Hp support center entering the model number remember HP in front. If no answer found there try replacing memory chip(s) Was there a problem with it keeping time just before it stopped working? Try replacing battery.

Count the number of flashes. That is the trouble code.

Change the Location of the main memory , If it works then you have problems with the slot.

If it deosn't work then change your Memory!

Locks up and screen freezes. Will work after I push on it.

I think 6 flashes means memory issue. You might want to try and remove and re-insert the memory. Usually found underneath in a compartment held in with 1 screw. If this don't work, I would try and purchase new memory. This would be the cheapest and first thing to eliminate.

Dell Inspiron 600 Laptop, stop working.

This is generally a problem with the battery or a memory chip. Start by removing the battery and starting up on the power supply only. Dell batteries are notorious for causeing a no start. Then try removing the memory and try one chip at a time in both slots. If neither of these work, then I'm afraid you have a failed system board component, ans you will probably want to take it in for a professional diagnostics. Also, you can find a diagnostics light codes list for your machine at Dell's support site.

Dell latitude D600 problem

The flashing caps lock is an indication of a failed POWER on Self-Test (POST)

Remove the HDD, Battery, AC adapter, RAM and Modem

Press and hold power button for 15 seconds

Connect AC, see if you get any beep codes. If you do, power off, disconnect power, insert RAM, connect AC and reboot. If system boots, power off and add hard drive. If it doesn't, replace the motherboard.

If the system boots with RAM, but fails to boot with HDD, replace HDD 1st.

Dell latitude d600- won't boot up!!!

Try this. Press down hard on the f7 and f8 keys while trying to turn it on. Some if it does turn on then odds are that the solder joints on the bios chip (which is below the f7/f8 keys) are bad. You can try to touch it up yourself, but it is not an easy job.

As far as I can tell the d600/600m have this issue a lot.
