Question about D-Link DI 514 Wireless Router (DI-514)

How to connect wireless router to adsl router?

I have just bought a DI-524 Airplus G Wireless Router. I want to connect this to my flatmate's ADSL Router so my computer can pick up wireless. Apparently there is a way that I can reconfigure the settings of my wireless router to connect up to the modem??

You're wanting to connect the directly connect the DI-514 to the ASDL modem to give you a wireless network, right? If so here's what you do:
Connect an ethernet line from the modem to the Internet/Wan port of your DI-514 and then you're set. I recommend you then follow the directions in the manual to setup wireless security.

If you're wanting to have your DI-514 wirelessly connect to the ASDL modem, then connect your PC to one of the LAN ports of the DI-514 and open the administrative web interface (usually located at http://192.168.0.1) and go to the wireless section and select "Wireless Client" and input the MAC of the ASDL modem's wireless interface (you can find this on the administration web interface of the ASDL modem) and you should be good to go.

I have standard connection-adsl to d-link dl-524 then cable to one pc, and wireless to laptop. When I use laptop, it is very slow and often freezes up My desk top has vista and lap top has windowXP. ...

Wireless is slow by its nature ... wireless operates about 10 while wire runs at 100. Wireless also less secure.

Speed up your laptop immediately by connecting it with eithernet - if you have the port to do that.

Is there a way to daisy chain a router onto another and still be able to access both of theire configuration pages? (Billion BiPAC 7401VGPR3 ADSL Router (master) and a D-Link DI-524UP (slave))

you can do the same, however you will have to disable DHCP on the second router and connect the first router to the lan port of the second router.

In this way you can access both the routers and use it on the same network.

Let me know if you need any further help.

My D 502T Adsl+2 will connect but when I try to

First of all, what IP address does the 502 give you when you plug into it alone? Do an IPCONFIG from DOS and note the numbers.

Now, what is the default IP of the 524. Is it the same as the 502?
If it is, change your 524's IP to something else, like 192.168.1.1.
If it isn't, please post back what your IP configuration is and what the link is, DSL,Cable Modem, PPPoE, or DHCP either fixed or variable.

Is this an Alpha Shield firewall? If so you don't need it. There's no real configuration necessary. If you have trouble you can access the config by typing in the address http://192.168.0.1 in your web browser.
