Program closes unexpectantly

We installed Picture It Publishing Platinum 2002 on a computer runnign Xp SP2. We were using it with XP on our old computer until it quit on us. The program installed fine. It will open OK, and allow you to choose a project type, but when we try to open the project, the program closes without any warning. We don't get any error messages. we have tried reinstalling it numerous times, but no go.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. It has worked fine for me for several years, then today it started closing unexpectedly when I try to choose a project. I've tried reinstalling it and it still does the same thing

If you have this premature shutdown problem go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316861
and download this patch
Download PI19299.exe now
it will solve your problem, trust me it worked great for me. After weeks of searching for a solution this was so easy it ticked me off I didn't find it sooner!

What do I need to get my XP platinum 8 cards from my XP computer to my new 8.1 computer?

Thomas, I'm not quite sure I understand your question, but . . .

If you're asking how to move your old graphics cards from the old XP machine to your new computer, that will either be easy or impossible, depending..

Oh, we're talking about software, not hardware. If you no longer have the original install disks, you may want to check out this product: "PC Mover". It's what I use to move data and programs from computer to computer:

PCmover Limited Time Offer branded pcmover 012014 Laplink Software

If you have both system on a network, it becomes easy. Install on both boxes, and tell it what to move. done.

I have now windows 7 and seams not to be compatible

You're right. PrintMaster Platinum 16 isn't compatabile with Win7. You can either upgrade to broderbund_best_seller_130x.png which is Win7 compatible or use the program on a computer with XP. You can do this with either a virtual computer or a dual-boot system. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can download two programs from Microsoft to create the XP Mode. This gives a virtual computer with XP without needing to buy XP. If you use a virtual computer, just install the software in that computer.

I hope this helps.

My Vista laptop will install MS Picture It Publishing Platinum 2002 but stops working when I try to run the program. I was told any PC software newer than 2000 will work on Vista.

Its not just the same that everything will work in vista. Do this procedure to work with the software. Go to the executable file (.exe ) of MS Picture Publishing and then go to its properties , u can find Compatibility Tab , in that select the Program to run in Windows XP Mode. So when u set the compatibility mode you can run the program in Windows Vista.

I bought Printmaster Platinum 16 and used it with XP just fine, but Vista won't let me install it

I understand that most old xp programs wont work on Vista. You might call the mfg. to see if they have a diver that would work with Vista.
Or some kind of other fix. I dought that they Have. New printer with vista software is probably in your future.

Stacking multiple photos

It could be that your RAM is completely being used in doing this project.
Try closing all other open programs, including anti-spyware and anti-virus, AFTER disconnecting from the internet.
You perhaps could also purchase more RAM memory.

The Picture It will not work unless it was designed (programed) to work with VISTA. So just un-install it from the Vista machine.
