First, try to light the burner in question with a match. Just hold a match to the burner, then turn the gas on to low. If the burner doesn`t light, the problem is the gas supply to the burner. Next, lift the top cover and put the prop rod in the hole in the cover to support it. Hold a match to the left-front burner. Now, turn the control knob to "light". You should see the igniter spark and hear a snap. If this doesn`t happen, repeat this step with the left rear burner. If you hear the spark and snap. If the igniter doesn`t work on the front left burner, but does on the rear left burner, the igniter does work. The problem is likely the control knob for the left front burner. The. Control knob includes the electrical switch the activates the igniter when you turn on that burner.
You most likely push the igniter too far away from the burner. The top of the stove should pull up u should see the igniter just push it with ur finger within a 1/16th inch to the burner.
Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.
FIRST MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF THE GAS AT THE MAINS , THEN REMOVE THE ALL BUNERS AND GIVE THE TOP PORTION A GOOD CLEAN WITH WARM SOAPY WATER TO EXPOSE THE SCREWS WHEN LOCATED REMOVE THEM AND THE TOP THEN YOU NEED TO FIND THE IGNITE WIRE FOLLOW IT TO ITS SOURCE CHECKING FOR ANY BREAKS AND ALSO CHECK CONNECTIONS . GOOD LUCK .
You have one or more spark switches defective or a loose wire to the switches.
They are located on each gas valve stem.
Yes they should be replaced for safety.
In the interim you can match light the surface burners.
If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:
Turn you burner to the Lite position:
If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.
If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.
Clean the burner and electrode:
First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.
Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.
Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.
Re-assemble - Make sure that each burner top matches its burner bottom. The burner top will lay flat if put on correctly.
Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.
The spark igniter is operating properly, but the burner is still not lighting. At this point, we would recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

no gas flow sounds like a bad gas regulato on the stove. as for the 5 year old ge profile with ignitors not working, you need a part called a spark modual
