I have an Epson NX400 printer but the yellow and black ink test pages are showing gaps and missing lines. I replaced both ink cartidges twice and did the head cleaning and nozzle check but nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian

Try to print something that is pure yellow and pure black. Set it to BEST PHOTO. If you see gaps or missing lines, your print head could be clogged. You will need to use a cleaning solution to remove the clog.

Hi

The ink reservoir doesnt have to be completely empty to fail. Replace the cartridges. Some of the jets or all of them may be clogged especially if you have not used your printer in a while. If there are cleaning instructions in the manual clean the jets and then try to print from the printer's self test

My NX400 doesn't print. I changed original 69 type cartidges with bought on ebay self-resetting 88 type.Printer did resetting but doesn't want to print, actually prints but without ink, copies without ink....

Do not use Resetter.......

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

I use new remanufactured epson replacement cartridges for my epson stylus nx400. have been doing it wth no problems for a year. left printer idle for 2 mths. tried to print in color and the colors come out...

2Mths is a long time to leave an inkjet unused and it may take several head cleans to clear and blockage (caused by dried ink) A test page will show if and when the heads are clear.

When I print/copy it is missing lines of ink and not getting the whole image. I replaced the ink and have cleaned the head

Sometimes it requires several head cleaning passes to fix missing lines. Make sure the test pattern after cleaning has no gaps. Print the test page. If test page is bad and you have replaced all ink cartridges, then junk the printer or call Epson for a replacement. Even if out of warranty, the may give you a great deal.

This happened to me twice, You can possibly have no ink in your cyan, magenta and yellow , you would then have to replace them to work the set. I had to do that and it worked =]

Just installed Epson NX400 printer. Keep getting M88/69 "Cannot recognize ink cartridges" error. Tried re-inserting cartidges twice already and still same error. What next?

I found a solution to the same prolem that you guys have. I took the cartridges out and shook them horizontally, instead of vertically, with the large surface up for 3-4 seconds. Re-inserted them back in. Then I started seeing on the LCD "Recharging Cartridge". When it returned to regular copy screen, I turned the printer off and turned it back on. No more error message. It's been working for almost a day now. Try it to see if that works for you. Good Luck.

FYI. I just bought NX400 last Friday. The error message came on this morning.

2 Missing ink black streaks

Check the dev unit for missing lines. Also clean the laser glass with the supplied cleaner pad - though if the problem were caused by toner on the lens, there would be gaps in ALL colours.

Check the dev units first. You can also do a stop test whilst a full colour test image is half way through printing and see if the lines are missing off the image on the PCU as well.
