Question about Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

1 Answer

Monitor issues My Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook has some sort of loose connection. I have to wiggle the screen back and forth to get it to work. There are lines on the monitor and intermittently I have no mouse or keyboard function unless I manipulate the monitor by moving it around. There is no specific position that it works in and the position changes daily. Is this something I can repair myself, or do I need to take it to a repair shop?

Hello
What can you do if the laptop LCD screen gives the lines on screen? From my experience I can tell that this problem may be related to the following: 1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen. 2. Defective LCD screen. 3. Defective motherboard (I assure the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).

Check these by yourself or get assistance from Dell support.

Good Luck and do rate the solution if got help

The screen on my Dell Inspiron E 1505 is dim to almost black. Looking closely I can see a little bit and when hooked up to an external monitor I can see my desktop. Is this an expensive problem to fix? ...

sounds like a specific issue with the LCD of the notebook. if the ac adapter is already connected to the system and same issue, try to adjust the brightness level of the LCD usually by pressing FN + up arrow key or FN + right arrow key. if this does not work, you can try to remove and reconnect the LCD cable to the motherboard. If all else fails, proceed to get an LCD replacement either through warranty if available, or by ordering a new LCD.

My dell laptop lcd splashes the OS and then goes dark. It works fine with an external monitor. I have a feeling that there is a loose connection since the top is almost falling off

Think you have answered your own problem here. If the external screen is ok, then the fault lies with the laptop screen.
Solutions..
1.) Remove keyboard top cover (download a "how to" guide if not familar with doing this)
2.) Remove screen bezel
3.) Check the inverter connections (inverter looks like a thin tube)
4.) Check cabling from motherboard to monitor /inverter for signs of fraying, tears, bare wires
5.) Check connections of the cable for damage.
If the above are ok, then you may have a damaged inverter. In any event, i'd look to repairing the damage to the loose lid, as its putting a strain on the wiring

2-3 inch swath of green from top to bottom of screen, in center

Might be a problem with your memory, your video driver,or the screens inverter board.
If you have more than 1 bank of memory, try removing one bank at a time and see if this corrects the problem. If so ,replace the bank that was removed when your screen works properly.
Also ,try updating the driver through the "Windows Update" service. If neither of those works, you may have a faulty inverter board.

Dell Inspiron 2200 monitor issue

Could be that the monitor is going out, but it sounds more like a connector has worked loose or corroded and isn't making a good contact. Check and clean the screen connection, screen to inverter, and screen to motherboard.

Extended monitor resolution issues with gma 950 inspiron 6400 e1505

I've ran into similar problems with monitors before. Turns out that some monitors need their own driver installed in order to work with the video card, and, ?guess what?, they don't come with them. I usually find them at the manufacturer's site or driverguide.com Hope this helps, if not get back to me with the make and model and I'll do some research.

The laptop screen

This is going to be a hardware issue. Start by checking the screen connections, they sometimes work loose. If the connections are good and the problem persists, it's going to be the inverter or screen, and unfortunately, replacement is your only option.
