Question about LG DLG7188 Gas Dryer

Dryer starts, but quits mid-cycle (time remaining blinks on/off)

The unit will not complete a dry cycle, usually stopping within the first ten minutes. Then, it will not restart until it's cooled off some (that's my guess). When I try to restart sooner than the dryer is "ready," the remaining time indicator just blinks at me; dryer will not start.

The ventilation is completely clear, from the lint screen all the way through the outside wall of the house, so it's not a blockage issue of any kind. It also doesn't appear to be overheating in any way.

And of course, I'm out of warranty by four months. Sounds like and engineered flaw. Any thoughts?

There is a problem with the firmware... if you have warranty just call the service person...
as i think this of problem may occur when you are working with the power just gets off at that moment the firmware may have got corrupted with this...
so i suggest you contact the technician and have a check with it....

Dont worry, there is just one reason that could be the cause, just check weather water inlet or supply is opened through out. The discontinous water supply can cause such problems else everything is fine and it could be a faulty piece. Please rate me..!!

Thankyou

Hello Louis, thank you for your post!
From my understanding your Frigidaire dryer is stopping and multiple lights are blinking. I would suggest performing a reset on your dryer and you can do that by disconnecting power from it for at least ten minutes. If that does not help resolve your issue it could be a possible problem with your control panel or a wiring harness within the dryer. You may need to seek additional assistance from a professional technician for a complete diagnosis to be completed. Best of luck! -Matt

Hello,

If the clothing comes out dry within a normal time, usually 40 minutes or less. Whats happening is the computer is recatulacting the time remaining to dry a load of clothes as it senses they may still not completly dry or even will drop off some time if clotes are dry before time computer calculated at start of cycle.

I have an lg dryer model DLG5966W and the check filter light is on. It takes two cycles to completly dry my clothes. I cleaned the lint filter and still doesnt dry on one cycle. I then removed the filter...

Check your vent. Inspect the dryer venting from the rear of the dryer to the outside vent hood of the home.
If there's a restriction in the vent--the clothing in the dryer takes longer to dry.
When an LG dryer is functioning normally---the time required to dry laundry is determined by the *Sensor* located on the drum side of the lint filter housing and by the main control board.
When laundry is near dry--any Time Remaining on the control panel that is *not* needed will be eliminated---except for the last 6 minutes.
The final 6 minutes of any LG automatic cycle is for cooling down the laundry before the dryer ends the cycle.
If a dryer *counts down* to the last 6 minutes but the laundry is still not dry--the computer will allow the dryer to run until the laundry has dried or defaults (not drying within the additional time allowed).
Dryer vents that are longer than 8 feet with more than (2) 90 degree turns--can affect drying performance.
Setting the DRY LEVEL selector to *Very Dry* will solve most dryability issues. In homes with abnormally long vents--even the longer run time in the *Very Dry* setting is usually not sufficient to dry laundry loads.
Reducing the length of the vent or starting a second cycle becomes necessary to fully dry the clothing.
If a second cycle was started---only the amount of time that is needed to dry laundry will be used before dropping to 6 minutes and then the cycle will end with dry laundry. Bonus:
LG DRYER

Problem:
The dryer has an auto dry feature which never fully dries the clothes so we wind up manually setting the dry time to an hour.
Solution:
LG gas dryers are VERY temperamental in long vent set-ups. If fabric softener sheets are used in the dryer--clean the two stainless steel strips of metal on the lint filter housing with a SCOTCHBRITE PAD--scrub back & forth several times to remove the waxy residue from the fabric softener sheets. Most,if not all manufacturers do *not* recommend using sheets in dryers that have a moisture sensor (electrodes).
However--using a SCOTCHBRITE pad keeps the wax off those sensors which can be seen if looking *into* the dryer drum and at the lint filter housing.
If only *liquid* fabric softener is used in the washer--clean the dryer sensors once a month. Liquid softener also contains wax which can slowly accumulate on the dryer sensors from the laundry washed in the washer.

You may be experiencing "Heat Retention" by stopping your dryer mid-cycle, which you should NOT ever have to do! If you have a minor vent restriction or if you open the dryer mid-cycle when the heat is on, this will cause a disruption in the airflow and rising temperatures can keep the dryer from restarting until it has been cooled long enough.
Check your vent all the way to the outside for restrictions/obstructions every 6 months. Clean your lint filter after each load and DO NOT stop the dryer mid-cycle!
Note: Stopping the dryer mid-cycle can also cause severe burns and even melt polyester fibers.

It stopped mid-cycle..no warning, and wouldn't start again.

Unplug your dryer for ten min. This will reset the circuit board and reboot the system. Sometime small power surges can disrupt the curcuit and cause the unit to get confused. Rebooting usually will fix this type of problem with surges.
