Projection lamp replacement

My televsion recently indicated lamp failure was imminent so I checked the web for replace lamp prices. Contacted local authorized repair facility, obtained the lamp for just under $300. As instructed I replaced lamp buy the tv still did not work so they took it into the shop an now tell me that the lamp failed again an there was another part out an they did not recommend repair. I asked for a refund of the lamp since the all the web companys list 180 day replacement policys but I was told that is not the policy of this repair facility so I contacted Zenith an they also affirmed that it was not customary to refund for these lamps. Am I being unreasonable to expect a refund? I am now out $300. an have no television. This tv was exactly 3 years old when this occurred.

The only thing that would burn out another lamp so quickly is if the ballast assy was also bad.

RCA61DLP42 rear projection TV displays dim picture for 30 sec with no audio. Then screen goes dark and power light blinks three times. It usually tries to start up again, with the same sequence of events...

3 blinks indicates a failure in the inverter / ballast board. Since you have replaced it it means that the power source board, the one that power the inverter, is faulty and it will have to be replaced.

TV was dark in color then made loud Popping noise and now no picture on TV

You don't indicate model or brand, sounds like you may have an LCD projection tv. If so find the lamp housing area, remove the lamp. You may find that the anode of the lamp has fractured. You can by your model # find replacement lamps on line. I use niosales on eBay for lamps, always good quality , priced right and free shipping!

How do you know when the lamp is gone on a Sony LCD Projection TV??

The lamp indicator on the front of the TV flashes when the lamp is busted and must be replaced in that case. The lamp must replaced too if the screen becomes dark or the color looks unusual.
Feel free to tell me if you need guidance in replacing the lamp. Just give me the model.

Sony 60' projection model # kdfe60a20, the picture keeps going out and then back on.

Try taking off the back pannel and spray compressed air on the fand and lamp. There is probably too much dust in the fan and on the lamp, triggering a sensor to go off and you loose your picture. If the sound goes off too, then it my be something more techmical. My tv had the same problem. This is how I fixed it. You can also try replacing the bulb. They are at least half price on the internet than they are if you buy them at a local retailer.

LCD TV NO DISPLAY OR LOST DISPLAY PICTURES

Can you say more about what is going on? What are the little indicator lights by the power button doing. The most common problem with these is lamp failure.
Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. Some models are real bulb hogs though. Look them up on the net (include the word complaint or repair) before you buy, or you might be sorry. Many class action lawsuits out there - even against some of the name brand makers.
