Re: not showing pictures that i took
May be the bats are not compatible to that cam... check the voltage specification of the battery from the manual and then insert the battery suitable to it.................. just try inserting ur old bats once if the same problem persists then may be the display is out just try changing display.............. the best thing i suggest is you take it to technician ....

Did you switch to Tv (shutter mode) and took pictures for several seconds? like in the dark? Because saving the picture can take as long as the shutter time was.
Before panic. (Actually you never should panic) check your camera in automatic mode. And make sure you did not select any power save action, that puts your display on dark while shooting.
But always be sure your battery is charged and check its capacity. In the menu yo can check under the wrench symbol, when you select Battery info. Page 268 of the manual.
Working with a bad battery can damage the camera in the end.
I've had the same problem for a while now too. The camera has been useless and Im looking to replace it. Im sure this problem hasnt got a simple fix and im better off buying a new camera! Id like to here if someone managed to get it fixed thou ?
use a recover program...like the one used to recover data from formated dvds..and use it on your memory card, inserted into a card reader..I dont suggest you to use it in the camera and you can do the same with moving pictures..use the copy/paste option...put them into the card...attention...only D40X made pictures.. good luck;)
