Check the power supply, whether the suply is excess heated up or the SMPS fan is jammed. In that case change the SMPS.

If still not solved check with the RAM. If there are two RAMs installed check with one ram and viceversa your problem will be solved.

What is the message? However you may choose advanced boot menu by pressing F8 during boot. Choose Last Known Good Configuration and start the computer. If issue persist Use advanced boot option choose safe mode and perform system restore. If you need further assistance please post.

Good Luck

Why do I keep getting anerror message the display driver has stopped working but has now restarted?

This message informs you exactly what it says. Something has caused the display driver to crash, but instead of taking down the whole operating system, the system just restarts it, and informs you. Check with the HP website to see if you have the latest display drivers for your system.

When you "start" the computer, and the {"Screen"} displays a "Error Message."[CMOS] "error checksum!"

The ("Boot-up Settings "have been changed?"), ie. "Booting OS."

Do the following:

  • "Restart / Boot the computer.

  • Next, verify if the 'error message' displays?

  • If you are still getting the message?

  • "You will have to "Remove the CMOS battery form the computer!"

Pavilion dv7 keeps shutting down

  • This may not fix your issue but its worth a try ...let me know how it goes
  • If the computer appears to shutdown and then attempt to restart without displaying an error message, do the following to disable the automatic restart on error setting.
    1. Click Start , right-click Computer , and then select Properties .
    2. Click Advanced system settings , grant permission to continue if prompted, and then click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section of the Advanced tab.
    4. Deselect the Automatically restart checkbox under System failure .
    5. Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery window, click OK again to close the System Properties window, and then close the Control Panel window.
    6. Restart the PC.
Disabling the automatic restart setting allows time to view the error message that displays on the screen. Contact the manufacturer of the program or device that is causing the error for specific information about the error message.

AOL is the worst ISP to ever exist, in my opinion. Their software is usually 'bloat-ware' and it sucks up CPU resources. Having said that, try removing AOL, completely, restart the machine, and see if the issue has gone away. If so, reinstall the AOL software. If the issue returns, contact AOL to see if a particular application has failed or if you simply need to install more RAM in that machine.
