Ahhh, I got a little quick on the trigger there!

The restoration that you will see?
Restores back to Day 1 just like it came from the factory. Destructive restoration. Your inlaws personal documents will be gone!

My Pictures, My Music, My Videos, and any documents they created, or downloaded - GONE!
Any Programs or Applications installed by them, or downloaded -
    GONE!

I had hoped you were aware of this, but had a second thought.
    What if you are not?
Want you to be in good with your inlaws, (Know what I mean?)

When I start my Laptop I, the screen comes with a message, "ALERT: System protection failure! Password =

You may try to insert the original operating system disc and fixing the boot process. Some computers do not offer an operating disc, thus you may have to use the Restore function. When booting, hit the F8 key and start up in the safe mode. Search for the Restore function and go from there. The problem is you did not state what version of Windows your using and it is difficult to navigate without that information.

How to restore a toshiba satellite a135-s2286 notebook without cd?

the f8 function is only to try and remedy boot problems. the recovery option you're getting is to restore if you have already made recovery discs.
if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive you should be able to access it when you boot up. before starting your laptop press and hold 0(zero) key and power on the laptop. once it starts you should get a screen with 3 options then choose option 1 to get back to factory restore.

Where is refresh key in my dell inspiron laptop 1542

For Vista or Win 7
If your operating system is VISTA / Win 7, tap F8 key when you see the Dell logo. It will take you to advanced boot menu options which include `Repair your Computer'. Select that option and enter your password if asked, then you will see a list of options like `system restore', `command prompt', etc. The last option says Dell PCicon1.png restore or something similar to that. Select that option and follow the screen.

Start the computer.
As the computer starts, press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.
Press the (Down Arrow) to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press Enter.
Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.
Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.
Click Dell Factory Image Restore.
In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.
Click to select the check box for Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition.
Click Next. The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.

Does anyone know if i need a restore disk for my Acer Aspire AST690 UP926A, or is it built in to my desktop. If so, which F key do i hit? I tried the F8, F10 F11, basically all of them, and none give the...

Usually F1, F10 or F12 are the right ones to hit when your computer starts to get the RESTORE DISC function. You will have to be able to hit the key several time when the computer starts so that it accepts the key press. IF you have a partition that has the restore disc on it, I would restore your computer to its original configuration and then I would mirror your discs onto dvd's or cd's for safe keeping. If your harddrive goes out, you will have nothing to restore your computer with then. When you find the correct F key it may also have the option to make your own restore discs. I would do this as soon as possible.

I want to do a recovery on my dell inspiron 1525 notebook. does anyone know how to do this what key do i press.

Hi,

The option you may be looking for is PC restore. If your laptop was shipped with XP, Press the Ctrl + F11 after the Dell logo will bring up the PC Restore option. If your laptop was shipped with Vista, tap the F8 button while starting up, Select the “Repair my computer” option and choose “Dell factory image” option. If both of these do not work, you may need to do a clear reinstallation using the Operating system disc. Let me know if you need any more info on this.
