Question about Gateway FPD1760 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

No Power I've got the FPD1760 and my grandmothers dog chewed through the power cord and since then it hasn't worked. I've replaced the cord with a new one and it still doesn't work. I opened it up and took a look inside and some of the components on the circuit board attatched to the power supply are blown. Any idea where I could get a new board? I've checked e-bay and all I can find are the display driver boards, which that seems to be fine. Thanks!

Hi,
have you tried to find the manufacturers site, to see if they have a replacement Board.
if not try to locate an electrical repair centre, and get a quote for having the board repaired.
p.s get a metal outer cable, the dog will bust it,s teeth next time :)

I have dell monitor model e196fpi

The power supply/a capactiro in the monitor may have blown. If either of those are the case then you'd be better off buying a new one. Try a different outlet and if that doesn't work then the monitor is probably toast.

My wifes dog chewed the cable that is hard wired into the lcd .

If it's the screw on type on both ends (I'm assuming it's the video cable), you can unscrew both ends and get another VGA cable (under 10 dollars each).
If not, you might want to consider keeping the dog away from cables, it was lucky not to chew on charged wires.

Turning itself off

Well, the only reason it wil do so is a Loose conection in its power circuit.
You would not be able to Fix the Internal circuit.
Howver you can doublecheck the External connections.
By tring to connect them Securely.
by replacing the Power cord connecting the Monitor to the Socket.
If there are any surge protectors or UPS in the circuit then Remove them and connect them directly.

Monitor won't turn on.

Does the cord plug directly from the wall into the monitor, or is there a power "brick" adapter between?

If there's a "brick" listen to see if the hissing is coming from the monitor itself or the brick. If the hissing is coming from the brick you may just need a new power adapter.

If there's no brick or the hissing is coming from the monitor, the monitor probably needs repair. With the price of LCD monitors these days compared to the price of labor, you're probably better off getting a new LCD monitor. Just make sure you take your old one to a proper E-Waste facility so it doesn't pollute the environment.

Need new power cord for x2gen monitor

You should be able to go to any local store like BestBuy and pick up a power cable. The monitor uses the same power cable as a Desktop PC.

Good luck!
