We have the same problem. It first started with intermittent video lost on the bottom half of the screen and then after about 6 months it went to these horizontal and some vertical messed up speckle lines and color distortion. We've had the tv for 3 years now. We've try software updates from Philips website and that didn't work. They say this could be adverse effects related to high altitude but we're at 5100ft and the website states having it below approximately 6562 ft. Who knows?

I have the same problem. 3 years old and this isn't the first issue. It was going black on half the screen, sometimes just a thick band of black in the middle, sometimes totally black. That seemed to have stopped for a week or so, now it is showing the dozens of horizontal lines. Do you know what the problem is? HELP!

I have the exact same problem. Is there a fix? If so, how much does it cost?

  • katydids Oct 31, 2008

This problem just started last night for me. Dozen or so lines across the top 3rd of the picture. Also aprox. 3 yr old set so Im betting replacement parts are hard/impossible to find. Has anyone fixed this problem yet? Does it get worse?

  • katydids Oct 31, 2008

For those that have fixed this problem. Possibly replacing the y buffer as suggested in similar posts, what was the average cost of that?

It really blows to spend so much on something and then have to shell out more $$!

Bring up the menu and if the lines are not on the menu replace the small signal board that is your video prossor. If the lines are still the replace the Y main board that contrl the top half of the screen.

I have an LG 50LN 5100 with horizontal strip...

Try removing the connectors from the TCON to the panel and re-seat them and see if that helps.. If it doesn't I would have to think something in the panel was damaged when the LED's were changed. Ive changed dozens of LED strips and every once and awhile one will get damaged no matter how careful a person is.

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV27FS100 horizontal lines across top part of screen

Check and replace all electrolytic capacitors in the vertical output section circuit. There will be 5 or 6 of them to replace. Replace all at one time. The fault you describes here is technically known as 'vertical retrace lines'. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in 'Flip card' option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. Several dozen thin horizontal white lines across the top of screen, all channels

These beasts are monsters to get into and service without the proper extenstion cables and a service manual. there are no user replaceable parts inside this set. if you know solid state serviceing, you can try and fix it. There is a bad capacitor or capacitors in the vertical sweep circuit and or the vertical output IC is bad also. If you can solder and unsolder go for it. But if you do not or know how the circuit Works Please find a trained tech to assist you with this repair. Good Luck. PS please do not forget to rate this.
