SOURCE: DEST ERROR CODE

There is a problem with the mechanical loading mechanism of the CD portion. The unit is unable to complete its "startup" sequence. You will need to rebuild the CD loading mechanism. You should purchase the service manual for the instructions on how to rebuild this.

First unplug the unit and press the power button to make sure all the power is out of the unit. Try to take a cotton qtip and clean the lazer lense with alcohol. after wipe it clean with a new cotton qtip to remove the film the alcohol produces. Do not use a lot of alcohol and drip it all inside of the unit though.
Also if you tried a cd-r try a real copy instead. Make sure your cd's are ok.
Good luck.

SOURCE: Sony MHC-RV888D coming error C

Hello, that error code means the laser is not reading.Either because the disc itself is scratched or dirty, the laser is dusty,or worst case the laser is bad. If the disc is in good shape than you will want to try cleaning the laser, first push eject(open),unplug power ,remove top, clean laser lens with dry q-tip. Then reassemble and plug it back in and give it a try.

WILL NOT EJECT DISC

What is the model number of your DVD player? You may try power resetting the unit and check if it helps. To power reset, turn OFF the DVD player and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and turn the player ON. Attempt to open the disc tray.

Depending on the model number of your DVD player, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons.
NOTE: This step may not apply to all models as DISC1 is not available on all DVD players.

If this does not work and if the DVD player has DISPLAY and PREV buttons, press and hold the DISPLAY+PREV buttons for two seconds to unlock the drawer.
