Question about Canon MultiPASS F50 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have a Cannon Multipass F50 printer. I have replaced all the cartridges with the Cannon brand ink cartridges. Why does the printer continue to give me an error message that says "wrong cartridge"? How do I fix the problem? The wrong cartridge error continues to flash. I have removed and cleaned the ink cartridges. i have removed and cleaned the carrige which holda the ink cartridges, and still the error shows. What else can be done before I bring the unit to be serviced?
The "wrong cartriage" error code may be due to the print head going bad on the MultiPassF30. I had to replace the print head on Sep 02, 2004. The Canon part number is QY6-0034-010 and their phone number is 1-800-385-2155. I paid $56.23 back then.
Just last week I got the "check printer" error code. I took the F30 apart and cleaned the felt ink pad then reset the ink overflow tank setting per:
1. Enter Service Mode - by pressing "menu then copy then #"
2. Select TEST MODE
3. Select (8) PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE
4. Select 3 (EEPROM CLEAR)
5. Select 0 (INK COUNT)
6. Press Stop/Reset key
7. Press On/Off Key

Thanks for your assistance....worked on it for a couple of hours still no success.....guess it is time to buy a new printer....this one is 6 years old and I quess it doesn't owe us anything......Our previous NEC lasted 10-12 years if not longer.... so in the long run we have faired well.....Don't want to spend the mopney on a cartridge when the sytem is old and may fail in some other way.
I am looking to purchase an HP combination printer to replace this one.........any thoughts.
By the way this is the best site for information on resolving any problems that I have had with my computer and accesories.

This Sequence is NOT for the "wrong Cartridge" code- it is for the ink overflow tank reset code.
