Your hard drive has a Differential Fast/Wide SCSI interface on it. You would need a SCSI interface card or a motherboard that has a SCSI built into the motherboard. Here is a link to the specs:

Hope this helps. :}

My computer malfunctioned and I took out the hard drive to try and retrieve my files using a USB cable. I am stuck

Your hard drive has no USB port, it has a (seral) SATA 3 GB/sec interface, currently and
by far the most popular used on laptops, and also desktop computers. The SATA (serial advanced technology interface) 3 GB/Sec is version 2.0 of the SATA standard.

So, you'll need another laptop or desktop with a spare SATA 2.0 port, or a spare SAS (Serial
Attached SCSI) port, since SATA drive may be attached to SAS backplanes, as well as SATA backplanes. For a laptop, you may need to use the eSATA connector/cable
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESATA#eSATA for eSATA technical specs and a photo).

This is a Seagate 200GB SATA-interface disk-drive.
Open "My Computer", and point at the icon for 'C:' drive -- is it a 200GB disk-drive?

Double-click that "yellow exclamation" item. Click "install new driver" or "update driver".
If Windows asks permission to access the Internet to search for a new driver, allow it.

Note that the USB ports on some laptops are "weaker" (same voltage but lesser amperage) than USB ports on some desktops. So, your FreeAgent might not be getting enough power to function correctly. There exist 'Y' USB cables -- connect the 'Y' to 2 USB ports on your computer, to draw twice as much power.

try to connect it to other computer, if it doesn't help, hdd is probably broken. If you disassemble, you will find internal hard drive, which you can try to connect to desktop PC to save your data, or look up for some data recovery company

Trying to transfer music files from 250 to 320

Do they have their own external power, or do they run only off of your computers power? If they are the latter then it could be a problem. If they have external power then maybe the new 320GB is faulty, it happens.

P.S. The bright and dimming of the light, the "breathing" is the method that many external enclosures use to indicate activity of the HD. My guess is that that's normal, and shows that your files are being transferred/read.
