Power light keeps blinking, error message 1203 and I have replaced the cartridge

It probably is not the cartridge...

Error 1203 on a Lexmark is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad... I would suggest you to try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again.

If that doesn't work just call up their support number and check for replacement..

I cannot copy or scan message #1203 keeps coming up


The 1203 error message indicates either a communication problem between one of your cartridges and the printer or a short in one of the cartridges. Follow the steps below to fix the problem:
  1. Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Did the error message return? Yes: Continue to step 2. No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.
  2. Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.

Finding error messages


Yes ok try and try.
Error 1203 is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad...

1 - try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..
or
2 - when error shows up, shut the printers power off; wait one minute and turn it back on press copy.

Error Message 1203??


These steps are for a Lexmark 4200, but I suspect they will work for your printer as well:

Cartridge Error: 1203

Your print cartridge has a short.

1. Press Power to turn your All-In-One off.
2. Unplug your All-In-One from the wall outlet.
3. Plug in your All-In-One.
4. Reinstall the cartridges.

What does error 1203 Mean?


Overview

The 1203 error message is caused by either a communication failure between one of the printheads (cartridges) and the All-In-One (AIO), or by a short in one of the printheads. The procedures below will help you to resolve this issue.

Troubleshooting a Communication Error between the Cartridge and the Printer

NOTE: The embedded links in the table lead to specific troubleshooting documents.
Step Action

Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on.

Did the error message return?

Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.

If the message is Cartridge Missing, reinstall the cartridges into the printer. Insert the black cartridge in the left carrier. Insert the color cartridge in the right carrier. Snap the lids closed. Close the top cover. Check the operator panel. If the 1203 message is still present, you need to insert one cartridge at a time to determine which cartridge is producing the failure. With one cartridge in the carrier, close the top cover and check the operator panel. If the 1203 message is displayed, that cartridge is producing the error.
