KitchenAid slide in range/stove model KESC307 HWH6 DOOR LOCK PROBLEM

We purchase this unit in 2002.
After the cleaning function, a soliniod buz occurs and the door mechanism locks the door. We called the repair service, just after the warranty, who replaced the soliniod.

The message on the panel reads "F5-E7". I have since been able to open the door by sliding a butter knife through the front grate and pry up the door locking arm. In the past this has essentially reset the stove, and if function normally, except cleaning, afterwards.

It has happened again.. February 8, 2008. I pried the door locking arm up and was able to open the door. The power is now turned off and after this message I will turn it back on.

Regarding "Superglides" message earlier, has Kitchenaid corrected this mis-engineered part or assembly?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: self clean inoperative

Dear Superglide, An error code "F5 E1" means "door latch not operating". In such situation I would recomend to replace the oven lock assy (part # 9782611 ) which is located on the back panel. If you are going to do it yourself - DO NOT forget to unplug the power cord first. About service manual - try to call Kitchen Aid directly.

SOURCE: hey,

I had this problem once and I just reached through the vent on the front with a knife and turned the locking mechanism. I eventually had to have the range repaired for self-cleaning mode, but this should at least let you get the door open!

SOURCE: KGSA906PSS Kitchenaid slide in gas

The thermal switch was bad. I removed the sheet metal back from the oven and there is a small round part with two wires one on each side. You replace it and bingo the door will open and display will come back on. If you do not have he part you can touch the two wire together and the stove will unlock.

SOURCE: I have a KGST300 gas

As most electronic devices go you can just unplug it first for about a few mins then plug it back in.

open door fully, look down by hinges where enter unit, pull those metal tabs back that lock the door in place, close door to broil position 3/4 way closed and lift up, which should get the door off the unit.. once removed you would have to get acess inside that door by a combination on removing outer sccrews and hing screws and also seperating those glasses.....be careful to remeber how everything goes back i know of some techs that run into problems reassemblin those doors.. hope this helps,, some local service companies often charge a smaller in shop service call for small items like that if thats avaialable in your area,, hope this helps
