The camera was off when I fell in the pool. I probably should have pulled the batteries immediately, but was thinking. The screen started coming on and off about 5 minutes after this happened. The lens are open and I have removed the batteries and replaced with new ones. I let I dry overnight, still will not come on.

Hi,

There is one thing you can do to solve your problem. But it is not easy.
First remove the battery and the memory card. Then take a hair dryer, blower or any thing else and dry the battery.
Open up your cam then take a dryer and dry that also.Make sure you dry each and every part..
Put back everything, then give it a try..

If this doesn't work you have to get it repaired..

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate me as fixya if ur problem gets solved..

Hi,

First, do not attempt to turn it on. Take out everything that can be taken out like batteries and memory card. Do not shake the camera and just hold it in a position so the water will drain out. Then get something to wipe up and absorb all the water. After, drying well...just leave it for a while so it will dry up some more.

I personally would open it up to dry it some more to prevent possible corrosion in the future but that's up to you.

Hi,

Try removing the battery and the memory. Use a hair dryer and blow to the openings. It would also help to shake it up and down a bit in the act of removing any left over water droplets.

Try again.

Should it be available, a can of compressed air would also be of help.
However, if you have tried it when it was still very wet, it is very likely that the electronics inside got messed up and repairs would be in order.
Should this be the case, you may have to consider the cost and time of repairs and probably entertain the possibility of purchasing a replacement. Sorry to be the bearer of this information.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

    Good luck and kind regards.

My powershot a640 dropped in the water i want to know if still can be repair or fix and how much it will cost

Sorry, but the damage caused by water is very nearly as bad as if you had your camera crushed or burnt. The result is the same though: your camera is completely beyond any hope of economic repair.

The only realistic fix is to recycle your camera and buy another.

Sorry that my answer is not as you wished for, but I hope that it has still been of assistance to you in deciding what to do next. Please take a moment to rate my reply.
