I managed to take 6 pictures with a memory card. I changed the batteries now the lens is extended and nothing is visible on the monitor and the camera won't do anything.

this Camera sucks i used it twice 1st time i went through two sets of batteries in a night the next time i got 4 shot and died and ever since then i can maybe get one shot doesn't matter what kinda of batteries i have used all different ones i just bought rechargeable ones and they work just long enough for me to turn it on look at old photos and then turn off and said the batteries were dead. I took the batteries out put them in another camera they work fine. I tried the same thing with a a box of 12 brand new batteries and it did the same thing but all work in my SLR completely fine....... worst camera ever!

I was having the exact problem today. It started when I made a home video. It stopped at :27 on replay, made a horrible screech and stopped working. Lens out and would not come back on at all.

After reading here to check the batteries, I did. I noticed I had two different type rechargeable batteries. I changed them out to both match and now my camera is working fine. The video still will not play past :27 but at least my camera lens isn't stuck open any longer.

Make sure you are using alkaline batteries.
I agree the battery use an ugly problem. Mine does the same. It's either a design flaw or really bad quality control.

I need software to download pictures from S73 digital camera to windows vista.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Consider NOT using a driver.

Your card is becoming corrupted. Download the pics from it using a card reader if necessary...then, format the card in the camera.

Powers on, lens extends, 3 beeps, lens closes, camera turns off

Try doing a couple of things.

1) remove and digital media cards.
2) turn the camera on and delete any pictures that may be stored in the camera memory (not on a removeable card)
3) remove the batteries for 60 seconds
4) replace the batteries without the media card and lay the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointing up (5) The lens should retract.
6) Turn off the camera
7) replace the media card and turn on.

I think the camera was getting hung up on the pictures stored in the camera's memory.

I want to set my Samsung s73 camera back to the factory settings.

You Can Change The Size Of The Picture By Clicking The +/- Button And There You Can Select The Size Used In The Memory For The Picture But You Cannot Change The MegaPixels Used Becase MegaPixels Just Mean The Quality Of The Picture

Nikon Coolpix 4600 lens extended and won't turn on

Go to store and purchase a memor card reader/writer. It will allow you to put your memory card in it and download the pictures to the computer via the usb port. Make sure the reader/writer is made to accept your type of memory card.
