My Sony VPL-X600 projector has a green tint over the whole picture
I bought this unit used and it had a small greenish-yellow spot in the middle of the picture. Now it has grown to cover the entire picture, but it's all green. It took about 6 months for this to happen. What do I do fix this problem? Thanks, Tom

this is caused by the optical block going bad and needs replaced sony had a recall for this problem though i think it is over you could contact sony customer service to see if they could help this repair is expensive
Your "light engine has possibly gone down on you, did you replace just the bulb it's self or the complete bulb assembly? If you pulled out light assembly and replace just the bulb then repalce light assembly, if you repalced the whole light socket assembly and still have greenish color the you have a "light engine problem". Seek repair tech.
When I was reading the instructions for this tv, It was saying if the projection bulb is reaching the end of its life you will get strange color changes. You can also reset your settings in the setting section. Go to your menu and go to settings and them picture. You can reset your picture to factory settings in this menu. Now you can reset in different modes also. You have to be in these modes to set factory settings. These are Vivid, Standard and Custom. Take a look. You can go to sony and it tells you haw to do all of this. You punch in your TV type and you can go into the instructions. I learned how to change my projection lamp.
The LCD green or blue inside the optical block is defective now. the optical block is the core of the tv (is the projector inside the unit "expensive"). make sure calling to Sony company and try to see in your particular serial # is covered under an extended warranty for this particular set. or at least ask them where you can get a good autorized workshop close to your area.
That model should be HCN4226W, right? Because the other don't come-up. Sounds like the mirror may have moved. It's mounted on the upper part of the back of the T.V. Should be flat against the back. Check that. Then see if all 3 tubes are lighting up. Also possable the fluid leaked out.....but not likely. These sets are fairly robust. Do you remember jarring it in the drive home?? Did you have it laying down when you moved it?
If replacing the lamp did not fix the problem, I would suggest to check the cables that bring the video from a computer or any other device that you are connecting to the projector.
Also try to hook up a DVD player using the video output from the DVD to the video input on your projector.
I have been advised that the color/light engine of the TV fails often and will typically create a green tint on this unit. I have one on order to get a replacement installed. BTW, it is not "user serviceable" and (for me) will require moving the TV to the repair shop for the change-out.
There is a crt drive problem and you can isolate it by unpluggin g the set, removing the green crt socket, in the middle of the three tubes is the green tube by the way, remove one of the other tubes and switching the crt sockets and turn it on. If the set is still greenish, then the green crt is bad and needs replacement, if another color is primart, then it is going to be the green crt drive circuit and is going to need to be serviced. Good Luck
