Re: white screen say heat run after a power failure
Was it the house power flickering or the tv poping off and on? If the house power you may have damage in the tv. Try unplugging it for 20 minutes and the plugging it back in. May need to be reset......If this doesn't help, it will need to go to the shop.....

The most common issue here in the old sets is bad solder connections--the problem is you have to get the entire chassis free and up so bottom of boards face rear of set---look to power supply---a lot of 2 and 3 lead parts there from heat come loose from the boards and also to the middle of the set on the middle board.
If you are not able to attempt this the set is too old for a shop repair in my view as many parts for it are no longer available.
ok from what i see in this video, you have a bow at the top turning this flash. looks like you may have a weird shorting problem in your convergance ic's. try unplugging all your convergace yoke connectors and see if it stops. if so then you will need to replace all conv ic's. do not run set with conv unplugged for very long as it will cause resistors to heat up and possible burn them out. 30 secs to a minute max for testing. if you tv does not do this when you first turn it on, then wait for it to act up, then unplug conv plugs while set is on.
Hi, White line across the screen indicates that tv got vertical deflection failure problem that may be due to vertical output chip failure. If that kind of problem occurred, tv select protection mode and red light starts blinking 4 times. Please check vertical output chip in tv main board and replace it to solve tv issue. This job needs soldering work so local tv repair shop will help you. Thanks.
I need t know your fault conditon. If you are not getting the picture bu the sound then your screen voltage is very high showing this white screen. Check the crt base for failure and replace very carefully with a similiar type.
You have a failure in the vertical deflection circuit. This could be either a bad vertical chip, the power supply that runs the chip or a bad capacitor in that circuit. This is usually a repair best left to a professional. There is a small possibility that it could be bad solder connections. If genlty tapping the unit temporarily solves the issue you can try and resolder the pins on the vertical chip LA7841 is the part number. There is also a resistor 1 ohm 1 watt. If that resistor is open you can assume the IC is bad
If your DVD player is separate from your tv, you might have a loose cable plug or connection.
Depending on the type of flicker you have, a vertical circuit loose connection would cause this. If you could connect it to a cable or antenna it might tell you where the problem is located. A faulty circuit in the DVD might cause this too.
The flicker could be caused by a bad solder connection arcing or even a bad picture tube. If you notice the screen getting drawed in from the sides as well as top and bottom it may be in the power supply regulation circuits, but the focustat around the area of the high voltage transformer could also be breaking down. If it's over about 8 years old, I would replace it with a HDTV set. Check out the latest issue of Consumer reports for ideas. (No I don't work for them-I've just seen so many people just walk into a *Mart and pick out a TV like they were choosing a box of cerial without doing a bit of research to find one that would suit them best, that I'm trying to put out a word to the wise among us).
