If your computer is running kind of sluggish, you can fix it with an easy clean up of your registry. Here's a link to a free scan that works well:

I've used this one and it sped up my computer by quite a bit. Hopefully this helps.

Cable change needs you have to Pull the Bulb or CCFL from the bottome of the screen internal.. What size screen? Some are easy some are not. Also if you have not diagnosed try inverter first. Many make this assumption and are wrong initially.

Good luck!

Why is my replaced lcd screen not lighting up?

1) Wrong LCD screen

2) Video Cable (LCD Cable) is not connected tightly.
Motherboard side, or LCD screen side; or both.

3) IF, a screen Inverter is used, the small cable from the Video Cable, that connects to the screen Inverter; is not connected, or has a loose connection to it. (screen Inverter)

4) An LCD screen, and a screen Inverter are a Matched unit.
If it's the wrong LCD screen......................?

5) IF, a screen Inverter is used; the diagnosis was wrong, and the LCD screen was replaced.
90 PERCENT of the time, the fault is a bad screen Inverter.

A) Laptop's LCD screen uses a CCFL, (Or more than one), for a Backlight; the laptop uses a screen Inverter.

Diagnostic flowchart leads from Graphics Chipset, to Video Cable, to screen Inverter, THEN, LCD screen.
Expensive LCD screen was replaced, instead of the actual part that needed replacing;
Video Cable: $9 to $22
Screen Inverter: $9 to $22

LCD screen: $60 to $245

B) Laptop's LCD screen uses LED backlighting, and does NOT use a screen Inverter:

Diagnostic flowchart is;
A) Video Cable;
A Video Cable should have it's connections PHYSICALLY checked.
You have to try to push the connectors in tighter.
Visual inspection alone will NOT do.

Making sure the Video Cable connections are tight, and this does not fix the problem, then the Video Cable needs to be removed; and every wire in the Video Cable checked for Continuity with a multimeter set to OHM's. (1K)

Not feasible, then take the Video Cable down to the nearest small computer shop; and have the resident tech check it for Continuity.
Should only be a few bucks.

Or just replace the Video Cable.
(Parts changing I know, but...........?)

Primer:
An LCD screen cannot produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, (Or more than one), or a series of LED's.
(Light Emitting Diode)

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. (Bulb)
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses; but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little large than 1/16th of an Inch.
Average thickness is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power, (Electricity), from the laptop; for the LCD screen, and Backlight.

As previously stated, Backlighting that uses CCFL, uses a screen Inverter.
LED backlighting MAY, or MAY NOT use a screen Inverter.
When the LED backlight technology first came out, it seems some did use a screen Inverter.
It also seems as the technology advanced, LED backlighting does Not use a screen Inverter.

Back light sometimes works

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Lcd inverter replaced but still no backlight

The most common parts to go out are the backlight itself, and the cables. If possible, remove the cables from the laptop, and check for continuity with a digital multimeter (DMM). If you are getting a good connection it is the backlight. If you don't get a good connection, the cables are the problem.

It looks like the bulb in the screen is burnt out. The screen is completely dark when fully chared.

You can determine if the bulb is bad by simply connect a monitor to the fifteen pin AGP port located at the side of your computer usually color blue. If your computer display the desktop on the monitor, you should change the bulb in your computer display. To change the backlight you need to follow these steps :Power off your Toshiba laptop and make sure the AC adapter is unplugged.
Remove the screws on the side of your laptop screen. Once the screws are removed, you can remove the plastic bezel (screen guard).
Pop the bezel out, exposing all of the LCD screen. Pull the LCD screen gently away from the computer by the corner. Be mindful that the screen is still connected to the computer by a ribbon cable.
Remove the tape over the ribbon cable where it connects to the screen, and gently pull the cable to disconnect it.
Turn the LCD face down, and remove the piece of tape that holds the top metallic foil against the back of the LCD.
Lift the metallic foil to expose the backlight. Remove the single screw at the end of it that holds it in place. Unclip the wire at the end of the backlight from the inverter (power source to the backlight), and remove it from the LCD. Replace it with the new backlight (available at any electronics store or online), and reassemble the device the same way you took it apart.

SCREEN IS BLANK

Most likely a failure of the backlight on the LCD. Try reseating the LCD cable to the video card, see if anything changes. If not then you'll likely need a New backlight and/or LCD assembly.

Backlighting isnt working

There could be two issues here....one is the backlight itself is going bad, or the inverter which mounts under the screen behind the screen bezel may be failing. The inverter supplies a constant amount of voltage to the backlight for it to operate correctly. If the inverter is failing, it may not be delivering the proper voltage and that is why the display is dimming. Inverters can be found on Ebay for around 15 bucks. If the backlight itself is going bad, these are generally already built into the screen, so in most cases the whole screen gets changes. I would try the inverter first...cheaper way to go for now. Also check the cable connections first, these cables run close to the hinges and there is always the chance a cable got hung up on a hinge and pulled loose. Below is a link to the service manual for the Satellite 100 series laptop, it may help.

Back light

If there is one backlight bulb it should be in the bottom fo the screen, if 2 than 2 on the top one on the bottom. I want to point one thing though, if you break the seal around LCD screen that will defect picture quality, I if you are having issue with backlight there is the greater chance that the cable is broken in place where it folds when you close you laptop, rather than the bulb going out. So check the cable first if the cable is not the problem than change entire screen than just that bulb.
