Question about Hitachi 42EDT41 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
Black vertical line down the middle of screen
That could be poor solder connections on the resistors located on the ribbons from the panel to X boards or the X boards themselves. Need to located the resistors, pull the board, and physically look for ring cracks near the ribbon connectors..

You have a loss of horizontal deflection caused by either:
1. Defective horizontal deflection circuitry
2. Defective horizontal deflection yoke
Both of these are in the high voltage circuits and I recommend you see a TV technician for an estimate..
You can contact Hitashi to see if your tv is under warranty...thats the link to contact them..

There are two boards at the bottom of the set connected to the panel. Follow the black line to the boards(it will be inline with one or the other) either that board is bad or the panel itself is bad . The boards do not meet exactly in the middle.
