Try to disable the security key of your wireless router in the meantime and try to connect your PS3 without the security turned on. If it connects, what you have to do next is to reset or generate a new security key on the wireless router and setup the PS3 - wireless network connections with the new security key.
In this guide I will go over the steps you need to take in order to connect your Ps3 to the internet either wired or wireless.
Wireless Connection -Your home router should be configured for wireless and you should know your wireless routers security information. Make sure an Ethernet cable is not connected to the PS3. -Turn on your console and select Network Settings under the Settings option in the main menu. -Select the "Internet Connection Settings" tab and then select Yes when prompted. -For the installation type select "Easy" -Select "Wireless" when prompted for your connection type. -Select "Scan". Your system will scan and show all available wireless access points within range. -Select your home access point from the list. -Select your security settings and enter your encryption key. Save your settings Make sure to select Test Connection to make sure the connection is working properly. <iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=boobsbeerandg-20&o=1&p=12&l=ur1&category=videogames&banner=1P92M72BVQ4PVPEF0E02&f=ifr" width="300" height="250" scrolling="no" border="0" marginwidth="0" style="border:none;" frameborder="0"></iframe>
You will have the same steps as a wireless connection, except once you select "Easy", you will be prompted for your wired connection settings. Normally, in a home environment, you are using DCHP and the IP address as well as DNS information is all obtained automatically from your router.
Be sure to select Test Connection afterwards
Ok. You should now be connected to the internet. Enjoy!
your wireless network should be configured to NOT broadcast the SID and a WEP key. Then after entering the address of the router manually in the network setup on the PS3, you will able to obtain an ip address from the router
get your router name and go through manual setup, your brother may have accedentally made your wireless network hidden, to change that go to http://192.168.1.1 or .0.1 and log in and chang the settings to default
i have some solutions..
1. if there's lots of walls between the router and your ps3 it may not detect the signal. i had a very weak signal until i moved some stuff around.
2. you can manually type in your wireless name and i think it should at least reconize it, and maybe connect.
3. make sure theres no firewalls or anything to block other connections from entering your signal.
thats all i can say, sorry im not a tech guy-only 17!
You can't. For wireless connection on the PS3 you need to have a wireless router hooked up to your modem. Once you have your wireless network hooked up with your PC. You can give your PS3 access and the PS3 will scan for any available wireless networks. Google will help you more if you need more detail on how to set up your PS3 wirelessly.
