Any precautions to working in that area with power unplugged ?

I.E. Do I have to be woried about any capacitor /HV discharges?

Your set isthe LN-1 chassis that problem is definately in the deflection / high voltage circuitry most likely the flyback itself. however this chassis has a history of bad solder cracks around the flyback and horizontal transformer mounting locations. I would check the solder before replacing the flyback. Also notethat if this condition has been ongoing without putting the set into protective shutdown you will also be looking at possibly having some weak regulator transistors and leaky diodes on the power supply module. Let me know if you need further info or a service manual for this set.

Just be sure to ground the HV lead from the CRT to chassis ground. Also be careful around the capacitors they can hold power for awhile after unplugged.Let me know if you needa source for parts.

UN40J6300AF Model After I turn on time verys, No display / dark display, then approximately 10 to 20 seconds, picture returns. Months ago the problem was only happened for a moment.

If it is a LCD screen, then the back light may be at fault. Some displays have problems with the HV power supply that feeds the CFL (cold fluorescent lamps) behind the LCD itself. Try contacting the manufacturer since they may have an issue and offer a free repair/replacement if the set is still under warranty. If you can service it yourself, or know someone who can do it, search the Web (especially on YouTube) for such LCD back light repairs. The repair can be as simple as reheating solder joints for the HV coils, but the labor of opening the set is troublesome for many.

My Ps 3 will not read disks placed in it

This is a common issue with the PS3 system. Your disc drive may need to be repaired. Most local PC shops offer a quick, affordable fix. You can also look into a warranty replacement through Sony.

KP-51WS500 Flashing 6 Times

Well, it's DEFINITELY the High Voltage power supply is DEAD! Won't start up...or goes into OVERVOLTAGE SHUTDOWN....

Most of the time it's overvoltage problems...

The KEY to knowing which one is actually occurring is the amount of time it takes before the 6 blinks occur...

A DEAD HV circuit takes a lot of time, while the OVERVOLTAGE will take less than 40 seconds for it to register the 6 blink code....

In this case (overvoltage) replacing the HV oscillator/regulator IC is mandatory...

A dead HV circuit could be anything in the HV circuit, from the Regulator IC to the HV splitter...
It's really wiser to consult a TV technician on this....

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV blinks 7 times

Yes this is normally an indication that the HV has exceeded 33,000V. The first thing to check is the rgulator circuit. If you plan on attempting this repair yourself, please udate this and I'll look up the specifics.

If you need the service manual, perform a Google search. There are a number of sites that have the manual available for sale. I am not aware of any free site that would have it. THe cost should be around $10-$15.

I'm getting an invalid format on my hdmi inputs when i hook up my ps3. It's wierd because it works on my viszo, but not on my new westinghouse or my samsung.

If you accidentally set your PS 3 for 1080p resolution, when the TV can only support 720p, you get a black screen. The Westinghouse TV I used displayed a message that said "invalid format." To reset the PS 3 to the standard AV format, you shut the PS 3 off. Then you hold the PS 3’s power button down for about 10 seconds. It will reset to standard video

Elektrotanya for electronics experts

It sounds like a blank raster with retrace lines (no picture) which would be some kind of video fault. You could check C-board (Video OUT (IC9001-IC9003)) and progress from there. Also, being a CRT set, there may be a few bad solder joints everywhere - especially around the flyback transformer, and, with set unplugged, look for ruptured or bulging electrolytic capacitors in the video, vertical and HV areas of the chassis. Also check the horizontal output transistor(s) and associated tuning capacitor(s) to make sure they are OK (if they are, you can rule them out as suspects). It's a start.

OK, 10 times is HV protection (High Voltage) and problem can be in D board and Q8013, Q8014 can be shorted along with R8051 open.
also IC8005 can be damaged.
All above parts on D board.
I would recommend to get related service manual for proper diagnose of problem in TV.
Good luck.
