    Your Great.... !

    Thats what I thought...

I have shut down typically within 30 seconds of the problem showing itself....

Any precautions to working in that area with power unplugged ?

I.E. Do I have to be woried about any capacitor /HV discharges?

I'll let you know if I have any success...

Your set isthe LN-1 chassis that problem is definately in the deflection / high voltage circuitry most likely the flyback itself. however this chassis has a history of bad solder cracks around the flyback and horizontal transformer mounting locations. I would check the solder before replacing the flyback. Also notethat if this condition has been ongoing without putting the set into protective shutdown you will also be looking at possibly having some weak regulator transistors and leaky diodes on the power supply module. Let me know if you need further info or a service manual for this set.

Just be sure to ground the HV lead from the CRT to chassis ground. Also be careful around the capacitors they can hold power for awhile after unplugged.Let me know if you needa source for parts.

Sony KV-32S45 turns on at first, than blinks out, still sound

I would look for intermitent solder connections on the small horizonal driver transformer as well as other HV Componets.(HV Transformer etc.) Also solder up the Vetical output IC. These have been common causes of failures. I would not use the set until these have been checked and soldered. If you don't, a massive failure of the hoizonal circuit and powersupply will occur.
Hope this helps,

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV blinks 7 times

Yes this is normally an indication that the HV has exceeded 33,000V. The first thing to check is the rgulator circuit. If you plan on attempting this repair yourself, please udate this and I'll look up the specifics.

If you need the service manual, perform a Google search. There are a number of sites that have the manual available for sale. I am not aware of any free site that would have it. THe cost should be around $10-$15.

How do I replace the TV tube in my Sony Wega 36" flat screen?

Hello jmdady,

First I would like to say that this procedure is dangerous, and should only be done by a qualified Television Technician.

With that being said here is how I would do it:

1) unplug TV and remove the back panel of the TV set.

2) discharge the anode voltage of the CRT by using a screwdriver attached to a clip lead which is attached to the ground of the TV.

3) Remove the chassis of the TV as per the instructions found in the service data (you will need to buy the schematic diagram and the service data sheets for this set)

4) with the chassis removed and the HV anode removed from the CRT, lay the TV face down on a soft surface (a folded towel or a large foam pad).

5) Remove the yoke transformer and the convergence rings by releasing the holder ring and slowly moving the assembly up on the neck of the CRT until the whole assembly is free.

6) Unscrew the 4 retaining brackets and remove the retaining assembly from around the tube (this includes the grounding straps

7) Once the retaining assembly is removed, pick the tube up by the sides (DO NOT USE THE NECK OF THE TUBE TO LIFT THE TUBE UP).

8) Once the old tube is out, put the new tube in its place.

9) Reinstall the retaining brackets and the grounding strap and screw the assembly back in place.

10) put the yoke transformer back on to the set, using the same spacers and mounting equipment but do not tighten the holder ring (you will need the yoke and color rings to the loose to adjust purity and convergence)

11) Reinstall the chassis as per the schematic, reconnect the HV anode, the CRT board, and the connections to the Yoke Transformer

12) At this point you will need a color pattern/bar generator, a mirror, and a lot of patience because you will need to adjust the yoke on the TV and adjust color purity, and convergence (Read the schematic as to the recommended signal levels, and patterns to use).

This is the procedure I would use. Now I suggest that you have a qualified TV technician do this because there are certain dangers involved in this procedure. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU SHOULD TRY TO DO YOURSELF.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

HV Sound no Picture

Sounds as though there is an intermitant, heat-related problem with the HV transformer. You can order this at a tv parts shop or from Sony (probably more expensive) the part number should be on the part or on a schematic. If not, the parts dealer can look it up from the model number.

Good luck! :)

TV will not switch on

this can be caused from numerous reasons, I will specift only the most common ones which doesn't require professional skills to deal with. The "easy" initial technical troubleshooting that can be performed, without a schematic and without a service manual, is using your DMM to make voltage readings and test components, also do a careful visual inspection and make not of any faulty or cracked solder connections around the high heat producing components and other pertinent details. Given the symptoms you reported, it should be obvious that the areas of initial troubleshooting interest in the television circuitry are the main PS, B+ regulation, and B+ distribution, standby B+ , the HV and HOT area.... also pay attention to the and flyback derived B+ circuitry and components.
